Warwick Christmas Meeting

Warwick Kart Club hosted their final race meeting for 2014, the Christmas Meet with a difference, on December 13th.

This was a non-championship point scoring event, with the first 2 races for each class held on the old short circuit in a clockwise direction and then in the afternoon, the final 2 heats were on the long circuit in a clockwise direction.

Cadets

The Cadet fields at Warwick have been strong all year, but only a small field of 3 fronted for the final hitout and Christopher Christensen dominated with 4 easy wins. Bailey Scarsbrook had his first event at Warwick and circulated consistently to pick up 2 x 2nd and 2 x 3rd to finish 2nd on the podium, whilst Isaac Christensen suffered a couple of DNF’s but still made the podium in 3rd spot.

Rookies

Jac Preston was totally dominant in Rookies with 4 very easy wins, consistently 1 second a lap quicker than anyone else and even quicker than the Junior National Lights throughout the day. Declan Arkadieff continues his great improvement with some strong drives to 3 x 3rds and a 2nd to just pip Harrison Stock for 2nd overall after Harrison had a DNF in one heat and 3 x 2nd placings. Jared Boys again was very close to finish 4th overall ahead of Kevin Ryan.

Junior National & J Max

Bailey Sagaidak in only his 2nd race meeting in Juniors came away with 4 heat wins across the day for 1st overall, but was certainly challenged at times by Tayla Cullinane who drove very well to 4 x 2nd’s. Nathan Gallagher was rewarded for the trip up the range with a deserved 3rd overall, getting the best of the mid field pack with 4 x 3rd placings. Skaife Ward, Daley Martin and Taylah Agius had some good battles in the mid field all day, whilst Jack Keighran is steadily improving and was 1st P Plater. Caileb Powell had his 1st race at Warwick and as the sole Heavy entrant walked away with a trophy for his efforts. Nicholas Lane had a pretty easy time of it in the small 2 man J Max field with 4 easy wins ahead of Braydn Sagaidak.

Qld Sportsman Light

Shane Roberts has been totally dominant in Sportsman Light for the last couple of years at Warwick, but may have a very serious challenger next year after Daniel Plant moved up from Juniors for this meeting. Roberts still came out on top with 4 very deserved wins, but Plant really extended him at times with 3 x 2nds and a 4th from the back of the grid in the other heat. Behind the 2 frontrunners, Hayden Nissen was the most consistent with 3 x 4th and a 2nd to finish 3rd overall, ahead of Derek Jones and Jordan Condor.

Qld Sportsman Heavy

Nathan Pearce had a great day in Sportsman Heavy with 3 wins and a 2nd to finish 1st overall. He was challenged very well at times by Craig Nissen with a heat win and a couple of 2nds, along with an unfortunate 6th in the final heat to finish 2nd overall. Ben Lillis stayed clear of the mid pack battles to finish 3rd overall, with 3 x 3rd placings and a 4th. Stephen Wilkinson had an up and down day to come home 4th overall ahead of Nicholas Hobbs.
