Baines Family Motorsport Season Wrap Up

press release 15 December 2014

The 2014 racing season has officially come to an end for the Baines Family Motorsport Team and the team are more than happy with what has been another successful year.

The team drivers Jake, Tim and Wayne competed at both the Central Coast Speedway Kart Club and the New South Wales Speedway kart Club meetings across three different race tracks being Gosford Showground, Kurri Kurri Speedway and The Nepean Motorsport complex with podium results at all three venues.

Jake competed this year in the Clubman Light Class and also the KT Modified Light class and was very successful in both.

Jake competed in 11 race meetings across the season and was never any lower than second place thru out the year.

The results for Jake this season were 8 race wins and 3 second places from his 11 meetings. Highlights of Jakes season were:

  • 1st Place in the CCSKC KT Modified Light Championship
  • 2nd Place in the NSWSKC Clubman Light Championship
  • 1st Place in Clubman Light at the NSW Speedway Kart Titles
  • 2nd Place in Clubman Light at the Australian Speedway Kart Titles
  • 1st Place in Clubman Light at the Alan Hann Memorial
  • Set New Track Record for the Long Track at The Nepean Complex

This season was very limited racing season for Wayne. It was decided in the off season that he  would step back from the demands of chasing championships and focus on a few select meetings. Across the season he only contested 4 race meetings and his results were 2 wins, a 2nd place and a 4th place.

Wayne’s wins came firstly in the Clubman Heavy class at the inaugural meeting held at Kurri Speedway and then this was followed up by his State Title win in the Clubman Over 40’s class.

The 2nd place he received this year was at the Australian Speedway Kart Titles held at Gosford Showground in the ultra competitive Clubman Heavy class.

As the season was coming to a close he thought he would try his luck in Clubman Light but fell short of the podium finishing in 4th place.

2014 was a learning and building year for Tim as he made the move to the elite 125 class. Having never driven these motors before Tim had a lot to learn against some experienced driver.

The season for him was one of mixed results as early in the season he had trouble coming to terms with the engine package. However the back half of the season saw him achieve consistent results and showed all his fellow competitors just how fast he can be.

To say Tim is now anxious to get 2015 under way is an understatement. Tim picked up 6 podiums this year with 3 wins and three 2nd places with the highlight of his season being a 2nd Place at the Australian Speedway Kart titles.

The team is now doing their annual end of season , pre season maintenance  to make sure all is ready to go when the season gets under way at Gosford Showground on the 22nd February.

Tim will be driving in the 125 class again and both Wayne and Jake are contemplating which classes will see them contesting.
