IAME Report - WSK Final Cup

IAME press release 9 November 2014

In the great end of season event by WSK that took place at the Adria Karting Raceway, IAME is once again a star.
IAME drivers are ultra-fast: podium in KF with van Leeuwen and in KZ2 with Hajek and Thonon, plus many Top Ten placements.

KZ2

The stars are Jonathan Thonon (Praga), his teammate Patrik Hajek and Bas Lammers (FK). The Belgian is on top from the get-go: 5th fastest on Friday and 3rd at the start of the prefinal.

Here Hajek and Lammers catch up and pass him, placing 4th and 5th; impressive, considering that in the qualifying practice the Czech was 12th and the Dutch didn’t race at all due to technical problems. In the main race positions are shuffled one last time. Hajek is already 2nd on lap 2 and at midrace Thonon reaches him. The two defend until the end and rise on the podium. Lammers ends his uphill weekend with a great 6th place.

KF

10 of 29 drivers on track are powered by IAME and they all make it to the final. The top player is Martjin Van Leeuwen (Zanardi), author of a splendid crescendo up to the podium: 10th on the watch, 6th after the heats, 2nd at the start of the final.

Here the game gets tough, the Dutch defends, then slips to 4th, but with a skilled pass on the penultimate lap he conquers the 3rd step of the podium. In the first half of the weekend he is “joined” by Hannes Janker (Zanardi): from 8th to 4th after the heats, in the final he starts 7th, but an accident immediately pushes him to the rear.

The day is great, instead, for Felice Tiene (CRG): from 9th to 26th after the heats, due to technical problems in two races, but 6th place finisher in the final. Matteo Viganò (Top Kart) also does well: in the heats he rises from 21st to 11th and in the final from 14th to 7th.

Phenomenal is the word for Dionisus Marcu (CRG), who rounds off the Top 10 after a 16 position climb. A final note of merit goes to a great, but unlucky, Benjamin Lessennes (Kosmic): 17th in the qualifying practice and 6th at the start of the final; too bad for the accident at the start that excludes him from the race.

KF-Junior

In KFJ IAME is on track with 9 out of 54 competitors and 5 of them make it to the main race, getting past the test of a double prefinal. Nikita Volegov (Tony Kart) rules until the final: 5th after the qualifying practice and again after the heats, 4th on grid for the final. Here, unfortunately, a contact at the start forces him to start over from the rear and he ends 20th, on the rebound and bitter.

Eliseo Martinez Merono (Praga) and Alex Quinn (CRG) are the top finishers: 8th and 9th at the end of a weekend on the rise from their respective Friday placements, 22nd for the Indonesian and 30th for the Brit. Lucas Legeret (Zanardi) also does well: he starts the final from the rear, races like a “pro” and improves from 27th to 15th.

60 Mini

The undiscussed leader of the group powered by IAME is Mattia Michelotto (Top Kart), steady and always behind the fastest drivers: 6th best time, 8th after the heats, then 5th in the prefinal and 6th in the super final.

In the first half of the weekend Skeed also looks promising, gaining 4 positions in the heats and placing 6th for the prefinal; too bad that here he gets lost in the brawl. At the end of the weekend he is 19th. Federico Checci also gives proof of how reliable IAME engines are, keeping steadily at mid field all weekend.
