Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) has qualified fastest at the CIK-FIA World KZ Championship in Sarno. Jorge Pescador (Praga-Parilla-Bridgestone) was fastest for the KZ2 Super Cup, where Australia's Jason Faint was 72nd of the 96 entrants, 0.979s off Pescador's time.

Flavio Camponeschi is the first leader of the challenge in KZ1
The Italian Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) was today the fastest driver. He outpaced the rest of the pack in his session of qualifying thanks to his 1’05”676. Behind him, his team-mate Marco Ardigò. Camponeschi was even faster than the Belgian Rick Dreezen (Zanardi-Parilla-Bridgestone), the winner of the second session ahead of the Swedish Douglas Lundberg (Intrepid-TM-Bridgestone). Only 2 tenths of a second separate Camponeschi and Dreezen, but despite the narrow gap the Belgian is only fourth, behind Ardigò (37 milliseconds behind the pole-sitter) and Bas Lammers (FK-Parilla-Bridgestone), third at 0”165 from the leader. Finally, CRG, the constructor holder of the world title thanks to Max Verstappen, is sixth with his fastest driver, the Dutch Jorrit Pex (CRG-TM-Bridgestone), who placed just behind Lundberg. Tomorrow the heats: there are three races on schedule which will establish the starting grid of Sunday's Prefinal.

Jorge Pescador leads the pack
Great uncertainty in KZ2 with four different top drivers in the four sessions. Eventually, the fastest driver was the Spanish Jorge Pescador (Praga-Parilla-Bridgestone), who set a 1’05”818 in the fourth session. Behind him the Italian Loris Spinelli (CRG-Maxter-Bridgestone), the best in the first session with 1’05”829, and Lorenzo Camplese (Maranello-TM-Bridgestone), only 14 milliseconds behind the pole. Fourth position for the Italian Giacomo Pollini (CKR-TM-Bridgestone), the fastest of the second session but 0”061 behind Pescador. Only in the third session the times were a bit higher: in fact the fastest driver was the Czech Jan Midrla (Birel-TM-Bridgestone), who placed only ninth in the general standing. Also the Italian Andrea Dalè (CRG-Maxter-Bridgestone) finished a bit behind: the new European Champion will start from the eighth position. Tomorrow, there are 15 heats on schedule for this category.

Richard Verschoor outpaces his rivals
The Dutch Richard Verschoor, fourth of the current standing of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, had a good start and set the best time with 1’11”960. Second position for the English Martin Roos, just 5 hundreths of a second behind the leader and ahead of the Japanese Hikaru Kogure and of the Brazilian Murilo Della Coletta. On 5th place is the Japanese Kakunoshin Ota, the leader of the provisional standings. Tomorrow there are three heats on schedule also for the driver of the Academy, all behind the wheel of Parolin-Fim-Bridgestone karts.
