Senior National Features At Launceston

The Launceston Kart Club will be holding their final meeting of the year on Saturday and Sunday (4th & 5th October). The Senior National Feature this year is supported by Ambulance Private. With almost 100 competitors from around Tasmania in what will be a final hit out for many before the state title in November.

Feature classes on the day will be all senior classes running the Yamaha J engine.

In Senior National Light defending Champion Gemma Wyllie will be out again to show the boys who’s boss and go ‘Back to Back’. She will receive tough  opposition from local Brodie Sward and Ulverstone’s Jade Waddington.

Senior National Heavy will be hotly contest with no less than eight drivers having claims as outright favourite, former winners Steven Wrigley, Johnathan Males and Jamie Bricknell will be keen to add their names to the trophy once more.

Over 40s Pro will be another class that has a number of contenders with Launceston’s Freddy Cocca, Stephen Johnstone and Adrian Harper all able to win their first Senior National Trophy. Over 40s Super Heavy will see multiple winner Scott Wrigley take on all comers once again, however the pack has been closing of late with brothers Troy and Allan Sheahen heading the list of challengers along with another Launceston Kart Club member in Shane Toon.

Support classes on the day will include Cadets, Rookies, Junior’s, Clubman, TAG Restricted and TAG.

The final race of the day will be a Memorial race for past Launceston Kart Club member Phillip Goss. This race will be open to Over 40 competitors and the winner will receive the perpetual trophy from Phil’s wife and daughter.

As a special treat for drivers and fans alike, there will also be a Saturday Night “Thunderunder Lights” meeting supported by local business Direct Access and Equipment who will be providing the light towers.

The meeting will include the awesome KZ Shifter karts withstanding starts, these six speed gearbox karts are the pinnacle of karting in Australia and should be great to watch under lights.
