  • CAMS has confirmed the format for the inaugural Australian Formula 4 Championship in 2015. The organisation has also confirmed it will purchase 20 cars from Mygale, then lease them to teams and drivers. Various motor sport identities have been quoted by CAMS about how the new formula will offer pathway opportunities for drivers to get noticed and build skills for Formula One. None of them mentioned the fact that, like all the other categories, unless someone's going to pay the bill (said to be capped at $170,000), they're not going to be driving the car... Anyway, more on the matter on the CAMS website HERE

  • Decisions about karting that came from the FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting in Beijing earlier this month:
    • The International Karting Commission (CIK-FIA) was asked to conduct a study for the creation of a new class before KF-Junior for young drivers under 13
    • Following the success of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, a CIK-FIA South American Karting Academy Trophy is to be set up for 2015.

  • Jayden Ojeda's home club, the Newcastle Kart Racing Club in NSW, has donated $500 towards his expenses for the trip to Valencia for the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals. "We wish him all the best" the club wrote in its newsletter. We wish him, and all the other qualified Aussies, all the best too!

  • Joey Hanssen will not be returning to Australia in 2015. The rapid Dutchman will return home for good after this weekend's CIK Stars of Karting final round in Melbourne. "I would like to let all the people who (have given) support, and all my mates in Australia, know how thankful and happy I am to have met you guys" he wrote on Facebook. "I have had such a good time, great results and a lot of laughs. Good competition which made me work harder and harder for the victory. As im going home i will race the German and Dutch championship with Te Dutch Kartsupport Team CRG/TM and also the LMV8 Supercup".
