Preview: Victorian Country Series, Round 5

press release 30 August 2014

Round 5 of the 2014 Austrans Victorian Country Series is to be held at Yarraman Park in Portland on Sunday the 7th of September.

This round of the series also incorporates the Colin DeVries Memorial for Clubman Light. The first three podium finishes will receive prizes along with their series round trophy.

The circuit has a good combination of straights, sweepers and hairpins which always allows for plenty of passing. As usual the club gives the drivers an option of pitting undercover in an enclosed shed if the weather looks threatening.

Two of the local drivers looking to have a good weekend will be Giles Rogers and Scott King. Rogers is competing in his first Austrans Victorian Country Series season in Junior National Light. A regular winner at local meetings, he has been steadily gaining good experience over the year at the different circuits and will be looking to land a solid result.

Above: Giles Rogers will be looking to have a good run on his home circuit.

King will be looking to add his second straight round win to his winning collection which has recently grown with the X30 Heavy State Title that he took out at Monarto in South Australia last weekend.

With a home track advantage, King will be looking at bagging some good points to help go towards a second straight TAG Heavy series win.

Above: Scott King will be hoping to back up his Hamilton win, with a home win.

With the series showing good entry numbers right from the first round, it is expected that there will be plenty of drivers trying to grab a good points haul before the final round in Ballarat.

As with the previous rounds, there are early bird prizes to be drawn on Sunday morning for those who enter by 8pm on Wednesday (Sep 3).
