City of Melbourne Titles

The 30th Anniversary City of Melbourne Titles ran at the GKCV's Todd Road circuit on the weekend and once again enjoyed a strong interstate contingent. All up, 278 entries contested 13 categories with 38 in a class field of TaG Light, 32 Cadets and 29 in both Rookies and Junior National Light. Fine weather on Saturday (when the photos were taken) was followed by some rain on Sunday.

Junior Clubman: 1 Oscar Piastri, 2 Cooper Murray, 3 Holly Marquis
Restricted 125 Light: 1 Mitchell Mackay, 2 Timothy Rankin, 3 Joshua de Stefano
Cadets: 1 Kai Allen, 2 Jay Hanson, 3 Blake Purdie
Clubman Heavy: 1 Leigh Nicolaou, 2 Jordan Sanderson, 3 Matthew Wall
Junior Max: 1 Bryce Fullwood, 2 Dylan Hollis, 3 Thomas Prascevic
Restricted 125 Heavy: 1 George Michaelidis, 2 Ashley Seward, 3 Peter Gigis

TaG Over 40s

Riddell lead off the line followed by Shannon. Bregonje went from 2nd back to 5th of the start and had his work cut out for him early. Riddell pulling away more and more at the front at mid race with Bregonje fighting his way back through to third on the back of Shannon. Riddell took the win with Bregonje making his way into second spot ahead of Shannon. Great battle for the minor places with Peter O’Neill taking 4th and David Dvorak 5th.

Junior Clubman

Murray leads down to turn 1 followed by O’Keeffe and pole sitter Piastri back to third. Murray leads the early laps before Piastri, who had gotten to second, made the move for the lead. Piastri broke away to take the win from Murray. Holly Marquis came through to snatch 3rd from 7th with Bryce Fullwood finishing 4th (from grid 16) and Aaron Cameron 5th.

TaG Restricted Light

Mackay led away of the start from Carless and Rae. Mackay started to pull away at the front as the battle heated up for second as Carless and Palamara, who had move past Rae, battled for second spot. Carless and Calamara come to together at the double right on the final lap which resulted in Carless going off the track. Mackay took the win by 5 seconds over Rankin, De Stefano, Westaway and Carless who recovered for 5th.

Cadets

Allen leads of the start from Hanson who started off pole and then Mann. Allen and Hanson pulled away from the rest of the pack with Hanson making the move to the lead on lap 5. Two laps to go and Allen made the move back with the battle for the minor spots between Purdie, Webster and Barter. A nice defence last lap from Allen got him the win from Hanson from Purdie, Webster and Barter.

Clubman Heavy

Wrigley leads off the line from Lichtenberger and Nicolaou. Nicolaou goes to the lead on lap two from Wrigley and Sanderson. Sanderson makes his way to the lead followed by Nicolaou leaving Wrigley, Wall, Fitzpatrick and Sammut to fight for the minors. Sanderson makes a move for the lead on the final lap but Nicolaou takes the lead back on the second last corner to take the win from Sanderson. Wall rounds out the top 3 followed by Fitzpatrick and Sammut.

Junior Max

Fullwood leads off pole position followed by Sidebottom and Hollis. Hollis makes a move for second on Sidebottom which results in Sidebottom going back to 5th spot. 10 laps Murray and Fife come together resulting in the race being red flag and declared. Fullwood took the win from Hollis, Prascevic, Love and Sidebottom.

TaG Restricted Heavy

Michaelides leads away at the start from Fitch and Gigis. Michaelides pulled away at the front while the battle for the podium was on between Fitch, Gigis, Pringle and a charging Seward who started from the rear of the grid to be in 5th. Seward made a move for second on the last lap with Gigis also going through into third. Michaelides took the win from Seward, Gigis, Fitch and Todd Blackney who came home in 5th.

Clubman Light

Nicolaou leads of the start from Rethus and Sera. Sera goes to the lead at the start of lap 2 with Rethus and Nicolaou coming together taking Nicolaou out of the race. Sera leads at half race distance from North, Marsh-Stepney, McLean and Bourke. McLean goes up into second place with Bourke in third. Bourke and McLean come together at turn one taking both out of the race. Sera takes the win from Marsh-Stepney, North, Hayek and Rethus recovering for 5th.

Junior National Heavy

Donald leads away from Pike and Cameron. Donald, Pike and Cameron all had a shot at leading the race in the early stages with Donald and Pike making a small break on the field. Donald forced wide with 4 laps to go and goes back to 5th with Cameron than taking the lead. Cameron made a move on Pike on the final lap to take the win with Brewcynski in second. Donald recovered for third followed by Alger and Pike in 5th.

TaG 125 Heavy

Hindle leads into turn 1 followed by Hunter and Pringle. Hunter to the lead on lap 6 followed by Pringle and Hindle with Mitchener, Aitken and King fighting for the minor positions. Pringle to the lead on lap 9 with Hunter than taking it back with 3 laps to go. Hunter takes the win from Pringle and Hindle in 3rd. Aitken come home in 4th with Rodgers recovering to take 5th.

Rookies

Harders leads off pole position from Sinni who started in 6th and then Doohan. Sinni makes the move on lap 2 with the rain starting to fall on lap 3 and all the drivers being on slick tyres. Sinni and Harders traded fastest laps in the wet while the battle for the minor spots was between Doohan, Smith, Love and Lichtenberger. Sinni drove away in the end to win from Harders, Love, Lichtenberger and Doohan in 5th.

Junior National Light

Hollis leads off the start from Cameron, Arnett and Piastri. Hollis and Cameron broke away from the field with Cameron making his move for the lead on lap 8. Arnett drove by himself all race long in third while Montalbano made his way past Piastri for 4th. Hollis made his way back into the lead on the final lap through turn two. The lead swapped numerous times on the last lap with Cameron crossing the line first. A post race hearing resulted in Hollis taking the win from Cameron, Arnett, Montalbano and Piastri.

TaG Light

Carless leads off pole position but Jenner quickly made his way to the lead from Rochford. Lap 1 done and Rochford leading after passing Jenner from Soutar, Carless and Edwards. Soutar pulled off the track when running second leaving the battle for second between Jenner, Carless, Edwards and a charging McDougall. Carless made his way past Jenner with 4 to go. McDougall made a move on Jenner on the final lap but the two came together resulting in McDougall going off the track. Rochford took the win by over ten seconds from Carless, Jenner, Edwards and Tesoriero in 5th.
