Karting News Briefs

  • SKUSA's much anticipated Modesto Grand Prix street race runs this weekend. The event has received huge local promotion and the streets are almost race ready as the weekend approaches. CRG driver Davide Foré has returned to the US for the event and will compete in S1 Pro Stock Moto.

  • The Ipswich Kart Club has organised former member Lee Holdsworth to come out Saturday night after the V8 Supercars race and present the trophies to the Rookie and Cadet class drivers. It is expected Lee will be at the track around 7:30-7:45, so parents are encouraged to keep the kids at the circuit so they can meet him.

  • DRAFT Supp Regs for the 2014 Rotax Nationals at Ipswich are now online. Visit the event's page on the Rotax Australia site HERE.

  • Speedcafe's Talking Tech video this week is Adam Mercer going over a Clubman and KZ2 kart:

  • The Tony Kart chassis that James Courtney won the 1997 Formula A World Championship has been destroyed. It was one of many significant title-winning karts lost in the recent fire at the Tony Kart factory. SA karter Glenn Davidson recently completed a replica. If you missed it last Thursday, there's a build diary and photos HERE.

Being the first New Zealander to win the Mini Rok Trophy, Ryan will now represent New Zealand at the annual Rok Cup in Italy later this year. He will now get ready for the trip to Europe and has secured the services of Dan Connor (Right Karts) who will make the trip as part of the team.

  • Karting received plenty of press when V8 Supercars drivers rocked up at the Ipswich kart track for a Coates Hire Ipswich 400 promotion on Tuesday. Lee Holdsworth and Scott Pye jumped back into karts as part of V8 Supercars donating $5000 to the Ipswich Kart Club’s Mayoral Karts Program (an initiative to give school-aged children the chance to get behind the wheel of a kart and learn vital driving skills before obtaining a road licence). "It’s awesome to come back to where it all began for me” said Holdsworth. “The Ipswich Kart Club was my home track, so it’s been good fun to get back into a kart and go against the next generation of karters.” More on V8Supercars.
