Evans To Make DD2 Debut At Coffs Harbour Pro Tour

team press release 16 July 2014

Gold Coast’s Jaxon Evans will make his return to the Rotax Pro Tour this weekend as part of the Birel Kartsport Australia team, debuting in the DD2 class. The Queenslander will be seeking success alongside a strong fleet of team mates including Brad Jenner who continues to hold a comprehensive lead in the Rotax Light Championship standings.

Evans will make his DD2 debut in the Birel CRY30-RX model that has already seen podium successes throughout the 2014 Pro Tour season. The concept of using gears and front brakes, as exist within the DD2 Karts is not something new to Jaxon and he will be looking to use this experience to prepare him ahead of the impending Rotax Nationals at his home track of Ipswich in September.

“I am really looking forward to returning to the Pro Tour this weekend and being part of the DD2 class. It seemed the most suitable option for me considering my experience throughout this year with Karts using gears and front brakes. The racing is always close and the quality of drivers in the field is very strong, I’m excited to be back in the Birel Kart and hope to be challenging for the front positions.”

“The Coffs Harbour event will prepare myself quite well for the upcoming Rotax Nationals at my home track at Ipswich, I’ll be looking to get as much testing in as possible to give myself the best chance of being on the podium and perhaps going close to snaring a green plate,” Evans said.

Victorian Brad Jenner will return to headline the Birel Kartsport Australia attack on Rotax Light as he continues to hold a strong lead in the series standings. With just one event following this weekend going towards this season’s rankings, Jenner is firmly placed to be part of the twelve strong Team Australia for the Rotax Grand Finals in Valencia, Spain in November.

“It’s getting to the real business end of the season, in particular with the Rotax Nationals fast approaching so I’ll be sure to keep on my game right through to the end even though I hold a pretty comfortable lead in the rankings. The Nationals will be huge and to be on the podium or even win that would cap off an amazing season,” Jenner added.

Queensland pair Nicholas Andrews and Ryan Kennedy will return at Coffs Harbour as part of the G-Force Karting team where they will look to gain further experience behind the wheel of their RK Kart and Birel Kart respectively following their debut at the last round. Joining Jaxon Evans in the DD2 class will be fellow Gold Coast driver, James Macken as the pair look to place their two Birel Karts on the podium.

On the back of successful final results at Warwick, Junior Max trio Mitch Maddren, Hunter McElrea and Joshua Car will be out to gain further success at the Coffs Harbour event as they continue to impose on the top five of the highly competitive category. Birel Kartsport Australia supported Junior Max Trophy Class driver Jye Hopkins will be chasing another podium after his success at the last round.
