VALE: Alex Jugovic

  8 July 2014

It is with sadness we inform the greater karting community of the passing of Alex Jugovic. Alex died as a result of a road accident in Canberra last Monday, June 30.

An insulin-dependent diabetic, Alex never actually raced karts, but he’d been involved with the sport and Canberra Kart Club via his step-father, Tony Prendergast, for many years.

“Alex had pretty much run the canteen for the last 4 to 5 years and also helped his stepfather, Tony, in local and interstate events as part of the Stable Karting team,” Bruce Otter informed KartSportNews.

“He was a good young kid. When we rented the track to TEKA, he’d come out and run the canteen. He also worked for us for a while (installing playgrounds) and came away with us when we went to Pro Tour.”

“He loved his music” Otter added. “We were always having to tell him turn it down – you can’t have it that loud when people are ordering!”

Alex’s funeral will be on Thursday, July 10 at 12pm at the Norwood Crematorium in Gungahlin.

RIP Alex. “Play the music as loud as you want.”
