Open Performance Back In Action

After a successful meeting in January at Launceston Kart Club, Open Performance are once again hitting the track, this time at the picturesque Briant Park Kartway at Smithton as part of the “The Ark @ the Park” this Saturday May 24th.

11 entries have been received with a mixture of Super 200 twins and KZ Shifter karts. Unfortunately Jamie Bricknell, who won the Twilight Thunder meeting in January, has Sprintcar commitments in Queensland and will be missing from the line-up. However this will not diminish the quality of racing, as no less than 3 current State Champions in Daimon Shelton (Energy KZ), Zane Wyatt (Twin Rotax) and Brodie Appleby (Biland) will all be aiming to take the win.

The Super 200 twin boys of Steven Wrigley, Jade Waddington and Jake Rice all using Twin TM’s believe that they may have the advantage over the KZ’s at the tight Smithton layout. Other’s that are in contention will be Evan Livingston in his newly acquired KZ, Marcus Johnson in a Super 200 twin and Nathan Zuj who will be making his debut it the class driving Zane Wyatt’s Kosmic KZ.

The dark horse could be Aiden Shelton who will be running for the first time an Energy KZ and is sure to be on the pace from the get-go, hoping for some rain will be Alastair Lee in the only Twin Clubman in the line-up.

The Ark @ the Park race meeting will also see the inaugural Grant McGlasson Memorial. Grant, a member of the Circular Head Kart Club, died in late 2013 and the club has arranged this meeting in his memory. The memorial race will be a TAG 125 Restricted Pro weight race held at the conclusion of the meeting.

Support racing will be provided by Cadets, Junior National, Senior National and Over 40’s Pro and Super Heavy.

Racing starts at 1pm with all finals held under lights with racing finishing around 8pm.
