Ipswich Kart Club Inc, Round 3 Club Championship & DD2 Round 2
26th April 2014

Beautiful weather and the promise of great competition prompted 192 competitors with spanner men, families and friends to the third round of the Ipswich Kart Club 2014 Club Championship which included the second round of the DD2 and DD2 Masters to the home of future Champions on Saturday the 26th April.

The format of racing for the day, 2 heats, prefinal and final, drop your worst for all classes except the DD2 and DD2 Masters with qualifying, then 2 heats, prefinal and final only to count.

The racing got under way on time and a large field of Cadets (21) moved onto the track for the first heat of racing.

Cadets Heat 1 (21 entries)

Bayley Douglas (#37) was to continue his recent good form with an outstanding drive throughout the first heat, taking the win by just 40 one hundreds of a second over second place Jai Brown (#9) who jumped from third to second on the second lap past Taylor Morgan (#6) to badger Bayley Douglas throughout, Austin Wells (#89) seventh on lap one moving forward past Charlie Ploetz (#3) on lap two into fifth and then two laps later past Ty Spencer (#45) into fourth, on lap seven he overcame a determined drive by Taylor Morgan (#6) to relegate him back to fourth, Wells was to see the heat out in third, fourth going to Morgan and fifth to Ty Spencer. The fastest lap was recorded by Jai Brown with a time of 58.117 seconds on lap three.

Cadets Heat 2 
Thomas Cooper (#55) started well from position one and led for the first three laps before being passed by Douglas on lap four, Douglas again taking control of the heat and going on to win by a margin of 2.917 seconds over second place Thomas Cooper who, retained the spot by .629 of a second over Jac Preston (#43) in third, fourth Ty Spencer and fifth Charlie Ploetz. The fastest lap was recorded by Bayley Douglas with a time of 58.126 seconds on lap four.

Cadets Prefinal
Bailey Douglas drove away from the start followed by Jai Brown then Jac Preston, Douglas headed only once for a lap by Jai Brown on lap four this to last just the one lap before Douglas regained the lead, meanwhile  Jac Preston having been passed by Jai Brown on lap two continued in this position before being passed by Austin Wells on lap five and dropping back to fifth, Austin Wells having started lap one in eighth moving forward and on lap six passing Ty Spencer for sixth before the pass on Preston into fourth, on the following lap passing Thomas Cooper (#55) into third, on the last lap Wells was handed the win by both Douglas and Brown coming together at the end of the back straight causing both to finish well back in the field, Wells first across the line with Cooper in second and third going to Charlie Ploetz, fourth Jac Preston and fifth to Ethan Wilcox (#22). . The fastest lap was recorded by Bayley Douglas with a time of 58.102 seconds on lap six, Douglas finishing in seventh and Brown ninth after the crash.

Cadets Final.
With Thomas Cooper and Austin Wells starting from the front of the grid and the two drivers involved in the skirmish in the prefinal starting well back, Douglas off twelve and Brown off fourteen, we were in for a final to be remembered, Cooper led for the first two laps before being swooped on by Wells on lap two, already Douglas up to fourteenth and Brown to eleventh, meanwhile with Wells taking control at the front and Cooper in second, third early Jac Preston and fourth Wilcox, on lap eight Cooper took no further part in the final with a D.N.F. that put him out of the running on lap nine, Bailey at this stage up to third and Brown fourth, Austin Wells was able to carry on his great drive and secure the win in the final with Jac Preston taking full advantage of Cooper’s D.N.F finishing second, Brown taken a last lap pass on Douglas to finish third with Douglas fourth, fifth after being back as far as seventh at one stage came Ethan Wilcox. . The fastest lap was recorded by Jai Brown with a time of 57.815 seconds on lap eight.

Points added and worst heat subtracted and the podium was as follows, first Austin Wells, second Bailey Douglas and third going to Jac Preston, my congratulations to all concerned great racing.

Rookies Heat 1 (20 entries)

Benjamin Deissler (#78) sitting in second at the completion of the first lap moved past Nathan Herne (#29) on the second lap, third early Lachlan Hughes (#15) fifth on lap one moving past Jarad Costello (#47) and Tomas Gasperak (#5)  on the second lap, Deissler holding first throughout except for lap four when Herne moved past to hold the lead, but only for one lap, Deissler moving on with the job and finishing a comfortable 1.441 seconds ahead of second place Nathan Herne, Lachlan Hughes finishing a touch over a second further back. The fastest lap was recorded by Joel Jamison (#21) who finished fifth with a time of 56.838 seconds on lap six

Rookies Heat 2.
Tristan Lambert (#46) led the first lap then dropped back to second behind Lachlan Hughes (#15), who, went on to win with a comfortable margin of 3.361 seconds over the second placed Nathan Herne (#29) who, from eighth on lap one moved forward past Brodie Davis (#39) on lap two into sixth, then into fifth with the demise of Jayden Wilcox (#7) after his D.N.F. on lap four, continued his forward move with a pass on Jarrod Costello (#47) on the following lap, past Sean Bolger (#98) on the penultimate lap before passing Tristan Lambert on the final lap, third going to Lambert, fourth to Jamieson and fifth place being filled by Sean Bolger (#98). The fastest lap was recorded by Lachlan Hughes (#15) the winner, who finished with a time of 56.944 seconds on lap seven.

Rookies Prefinal
No action lap one, Hughes from Herne then Deissler, fourth Jamieson and then Costello, lap two Herne takes over in front followed by Hughes then no change back to fifth, Tomas Gasperak past Davis for sixth, further back Bolger to ninth and Davis back to tenth, Wilcox up to thirteenth with Lambert (#46) now fourteenth, Martin (#85) up to sixteenth with Philp (#51) back to seventeenth, and McCarthy (#91P) to eighteenth and Gray (#76) back into nineteenth, no time recorded for Bailey Sagaidak (#55). Lap three and Josh Radford (#84) moves forward into sixth with Tomas Gasperak (#5) back to eighth, Brodie Davis (#39) filling seventh, Bolger still ninth and Harrison Stock (#20) into the top ten, a move further back Gabriel Gasperak (#2) into eleventh with Max Wilcox (#86) relegated back into twelfth. Lap four Herne and Hughes remain first and second respectively the rest all up one spot due to a D.N.F. by Benjamin Deissler (#78), Brodie Davis (#39) remains in seventh. Lap five and Sean Bolger (#98) into seventh, Stock eighth, Gasperak ninth and Wilcox into tenth, Lambert twelfth, Vince (#22P) thirteenth, Martin fourteenth, Philp fifteenth, Gary sixteenth and McCarthy seventeenth, all due to the D.N.F by Deissler on the previous lap. Lap six and Lachlan Hughes strikes back and takes over the lead from Nathan Herne, Tomas Gasperak up into fifth, Josh Radford back one into sixth, Max Wilcox up to tenth and Harrison Stock back into eleventh, Jayden Wilcox into eighth, no change in lap seven, the final lap and Lachlan Hughes takes the win from Nathan Herne by just .160 of a second, third to Joel Jamison and fourth Jarrod Costello, fifth Tomas Gasperak. The fastest lap was recorded by Lachlan Hughes (#15) the winner, who finished with a time of 56.823 seconds on lap seven.

Rookies Final
The action started in lap two, Hughes into the lead followed by Jamieson with Herne dropping back to third, Gabriel Gasperak into fourth with Costello up to fifth relegating Jaydon Wilcox back to sixth, next came Tomas Gasperak into seventh with Lambert back one spot into eighth, Brodie Davis moving into thirteenth, Harrison Stock back to fourteenth, Kade Vink (#22P) up to sixteenth followed by Sam McCarthy then Ethan Gray, Michael Philp registering a D.N.F. Lap three and Joel Jamison makes a move into the lead followed closely by Lachlan Hughes the gap just 86 one hundreds at the line, Herne still third with a 2.009 second gap back to Gabriel Gasperak in fourth with Jarrod Costello running in fifth, Jamieson continues to control the final until lap eight and we see another change, this time it’s Hughes into the lead, Jamieson back to second and Herne still in third, fourth after coming from ninth on the first lap we see Benjamin Deissler move slowly through and up into fourth at the end, the trip into fourth place is a tale well worth the telling, firstly past Tristan Lambert on lap two, then on lap five past Gabriel Gasperak on lap six, even further forward past Jarrod Costello into his final position of fourth, fifth going to Jarrod Costello. Lap eight and we see Lachlan Hughes once more take control of the final with Jamieson in second and Herne still back in third, and that’s how they finished after some great racing throughout the day. The fastest lap was again recorded by Lachlan Hughes (#15) the winner, who finished with a time of 56.834 seconds on lap four The worst heat result dropped and the final placing’s were as follows, Lachlan Hughes taking the win from Nathan Herne second and Joel Jamison third, fourth going to Benjamin Deissler and fifth Jarrod Costello.

Junior National Light Heat 1.(21 entries)

The first heat got under way with William Brown (#3) taking an all the way win over Ryan Suhle (#54) with Mark Tulloch (#21) finishing in third, fourth going to Ryan Jordan (#27) and fifth Harrison Hoey. The fastest lap recorded by Ryan Suhle with a time of 55.427 on lap six of the designated eight laps.

Junior National Light Heat 2
The second heat was similar to the first insofar as Randy Morgan (#14) taking the win over Ryan Suhle (#54) just .224 of a second back in second and Harrison Hoey #97) who, started in third on the first lap and maintained the position throughout, the mover and shaker in the second heat going to William Brown, Twelfth on lap one, before first moving past Mark Tulloch (#21) and then Eryn Osborne (#31) then Carla Curtis (#5) past Jamie Gillan (#19) on lap four into sixth, on lap five past Brieann Moyse (#72) into fifth and on the last lap passing  Samuel Polson (#9) into his final finishing position of fourth, fifth going to Samuel Polson with a last lap pass on Marc Tulloch. . The fastest lap recorded by William Brown with a time of 54.916 on lap seven of the designated eight laps.

Junior National Light Prefinal
William Brown jumped away and led the prefinal from Ryan Suhle with a pass on lap two, Suhle being passed by Randy Morgan on the fifth lap to hold the position until the end,  Ryan Suhle finishing third with Marc Tulloch fourth and Harrison Hoey in fifth. The first young lady home Eryn Osborne (#31) in eighth, the fastest lap recorded by Randy Morgan with a time of 55.077 on the last lap.

Junior National Light Final
Lap one and Ryan Suhle led away followed closely by Randy Morgan and William Brown in that order, action really started on lap two with Brown moving forward to take over the lead, back to second Suhle and third Randy Morgan, fourth early Marc Tulloch and Hoey running fifth, further back Jaxon Reihana, Brieann Moyse, Tom Nankavill, Bo Butler and Daley Martin all up one spot on the demise of Nathan Gallagher and Luke Van Herwaarde  with D.N.F.’s bringing their first heat of racing to an end, lap three and Morgan moved into second, Suhle still third with no change fourth and fifth now, Ryan Jordan, Hoey back one to sixth, Moyse up to twelfth with Reihana back one spot, lap four no change the first thirteen, Bo Butler up into fourteenth and Nankavill back to fifteenth, lap five no change first through fifth then Damon Ash into sixth with Harrison Hoey dropping back to seventh, lap six no change throughout, lap seven, no change the first eight and Samuel Polsen up into ninth with Karla Curtis back to tenth, lap eight and Randy Morgan moves into the lead, second now, William Brown, no change for the remainder of the field, lap nine and there is no change in the order, lap ten and William Brown takes over control once more at the front of the pack, Randy Morgan back to second the rest as was the previous lap, nearing the end of the final and lap eleven sees no change in the order, the final lap and Randy Morgan waits patiently before swooping on Brown to win by just 51 one hundreds of a second over Brown with Suhle third a further point 111 of a second back, fourth Marc Tulloch the best of the rest, but 4.096 seconds back and fifth Ryan Jordan .239 of a second back, the fastest lap recorded by Wiliam Brown with a time of 55.246 on lap nine. Worst result dropped and the podium saw William Brown take the top step of the podium with Randy Morgan second and Ryan Suhle third, fourth going to Marc Tulloch and fifth to Harrison Hoey.

Junior National Heavy (7 entries)

Natasha Herne took a clean sweep of the two heats, prefinal and final, obviously a great eye opener for the 2014 Young Guns Titles to be held the very next week-end at Lismore, second going to Olivia Bell (another young lady) well done, and third to Trenton Dunstan, the fastest lap in the final was recorded by the outright winner Natasha Herne with a time of 56.897 seconds in lap two.

Junior Max Heat 1. (14 entries)
Jack Smith (#43) led away and held the lead for the first five laps before being passed by Ben Wilcox (#86) who went on to take the win, Smith held onto second to another lap before being delegated back into third by William Brown (#99), fourth to Thomas Steele (#10) with Brock Lannoy (#67) fifth, the fastest lap recorded by William Brown (#99) with a time of 50.114 on lap eight.

Junior Max Heat 2
Brock Lannoy jumped well at the start closely followed by Nicholas Lane, third early Thomas Steele, fourth William Brown and fifth Joshua Davey, Lane held onto second until lap four before dropping back to fourteenth and then thirteenth to finish in that position, meanwhile William Brown running fourth until he too had an incident that resulted in him dropping back to thirteenth on lap four and finishing the heat in eleventh, Brock Lannoy went on to win the heat from a great second to Thomas Steele and third going to Joshua Davey, fourth a good drive from Reuben Golsby and fifth a fabulous drive from fourteenth on lap one, Jack Smith. The fastest lap recorded by Ben Wilcox, who finished seventh with a time of 50.581 on lap eight.

Junior Max Prefinal.
Brock Lannoy led away followed closely by Thomas Steele then Jack Smith with Ben Wilcox in fourth and William Brown in fifth, lap two and Smith moved to second Steele back to third, Brown up into fourth with Wilcox back one, Hopkins up one into sixth with Davey back to seventh, Lap three Brown up into fourth, Steele back one spot, further back Brookes into tenth with Golsby now eleventh, lap four and we saw Brookes and Golsby move up one spot each with Astley dropping back into eleventh, no change the rest, lap five William Brown continues his march towards the front now second, Smith third, Davey up to sixth, Hopkins back to seventh, Lane and Blindell up a spot each with Astley falling away, lap six no change throughout, lap seven Brookes to eighth, Overland now ninth, the final lap and Lannoy takes the win from Brown falling .200 of a second short of gaining the lead and has to be content with second, third Ben Wilcox, fourth Jack Smith and fifth Joshua Davey, the fastest lap recorded by William Brown with a time of 50.295 on lap seven, thirteen of the fourteen drivers recording times in the 50 second bracket.

Junior Max Final 
Brock Lannoy again jumped well at the start and led Brown, Wilcox, Smith and Davey for the first two laps lap three and Golsby passed Lane for ninth, with the demise of Lane, Steele then Astley and McRae move up to tenth, eleventh and twelfth respectively, lap five Brookes to sixth, Hopkins back one to seventh, lap six McRae into eleventh with Astley back one spot, lap seven and the field remains the same, also lap eight, lap nine and Steele moves to ninth with Golsby now back to tenth, no change lap ten, with Brown an advantage of .453 of a second to the better of Smith and then .283 of a second back to Lannoy in third, fourth Wilcox 74 one hundreds back passing the control tower, Davey a further .761 of a second back in fifth, lap eleven and Jye Hopkins drops from seventh to record a D.N.F. after some great racing throughout the day, this, moves Overland, Steele, Golsby, McRae and Astley up one spot each, the final lap and Brown takes the win by .426 of a second over second place Jack Smith, third going to Brock Lannoy, fourth Wilcox and fifth Joshua Davey, the fastest lap recorded by Joshua Davey running fifth with a time of 50.205 on lap eleven, after the worst is dropped the podium positions were Brock Lannoy first, William Brown second and Ben Wilcox third, fourth Jack Smith and fifth Joshua Davey.

Tag 125 Restricted Light Heat 1. (27 entries)

A large field of 27 drivers took to the track to contest the first heat of racing, Kris Usher (#38) lead away the first heat from Doug Kinley (#29), third Victor Velkov (#77) followed by Donnelle Waldon (#83) with Jack AH Quay (#88) in fifth,  positions remained the same throughout the first and second laps, lap three and Dean Weigman (#76) moved through into fifth followed by Ryan O’Sullivan (#31), Daniel Meek (#12) and Trent Cossor (#50) with Mark Vroegop (#27) falling back into ninth, Ryan Mussell (#46) up to tenth, Beau Cubis (#26) to eleventh, Chris Orders (#13) twelfth, David Gurney (#22) down to thirteenth, Tim Farrell (#2) to fourteenth, Jack AH Quay back to fifteenth, Greg Gallagher (#92) up into sixteenth, Steve O’Shea (#33P) seventeenth, Alex Houston (#47) eighteenth, Evangeline Blindell (#21) nineteenth, Shaun Walsh (#17P) into twentieth, Jeff AH Quay (#11P) twenty first, James Evans (#37P) twenty second and Matthew Weatherley (#64) dropping back to twenty third, Graham Kennedy (#69P) another P Platter in twenty fourth, Todd Black (#19) and Shane D’Evlin (#23) recording D.N.F.’S early, lap four half way through the first heat and Usher continued his lead, Doug Kinley second, third Velkov, fourth Waldon and fifth still Dean Weigman, further back  Cubis now ninth, Orders into tenth, Mussell drops to eleventh, Farrell now twelfth, Vroegop drops back one, Jack AH Quay into fourteenth, Gurney drops back one, Houston up to seventeenth, O’Shea back one, no change the rest, lap five Usher and Kinley still first and second Waldon moving forward into third, Velkov back to fourth, Cossor up to seventh, Meek back to eighth, still further back Gallagher to fourteenth with AH Quay back to fifteenth, Houston and O’Shea up one spot each, Gurney now eightheenth, Weigman, O’Sullivan and Cossor up into fourth, fifth and sixth respectively with Velkov back to seventh, further back Weatherley up into twenty second and Evans back to twenty third,  the penultimate lap and Weigman moves past Waldon into third, Cossor now fifth, O’Sullivan sixth, Farrell up to eleventh, Mussell back to thirteenth, no change the remainder of the field, the last lap and Weigman moves past Kinley to secure second place, Waldon also past to secure the third position, Kinley finishes fourth with Cossor in fifth, the fastest lap recorded by Matthew Weatherley who finished twenty first with a time of 51.466 on lap eight, second quickest going to Dean Weigman with a time of 51.472 on lap four.

Tag 125 Restricted Light Heat 2.
Alex Houston led away smartly from Sane D’Evlin then Greg Gallagher with Chris Orders next and Tim Farrell running fifth, lap two and Gallagher and Orders move to second and third respectively, D'Evlin back to fourth, Farrell still fifth, Cossor up to seventh, Mussell drops back one, Meek and Weigman move up into tenth and eleventh respectively with Blindell dropping to twelfth, Weatherley into thirteenth, Gurney now fourteenth, Jack AH Quay now sixteenth, Velkov seventeenth, Kris Usher up to nineteenth with O’Shea back to twentieth, Jeff AH Quay now twenty second, Kennedy back to twenty fourth, lap three and Orders moves to second, Gallagher back one to third, Tim Farrell and Trent Cossor move up one spot into fourth and fifth respectively, O’Sullivan seventh, Weigman up to ninth, with D’Evlin back to eighth and Mussell now tenth, lap five and Orders moves to the lead, followed by Houston then Gallagher still third, fourth Farrell and fifth Cossor, lap six not change first nine with Meek up to tenth, lap seven and Gallagher drops to eighth moving Farrell into third now fourth Cossor and fifth Ryan O’Sullivan, the final lap of the second heat sees Orders take the win by .204 of a second over Farrell, third going to Trent Cossor a further .199 of a second back with O’Sullivan fourth, Weigman filling fifth, the fastest lap in the second heat going to Dean Weigman with a time of 51.464 on lap five.

Tag 125 Restricted Light Prefinal
Dean Weigman led from the start through till the finish of the prefinal, but was disqualified for a misdemeanour handing the win to Chris Orders who throughout was running in second, third, now second Trent Cossor and fourth now third Ryan O’Sullivan, next came Kris Usher from Tim Farrell, the fastest time recorded by Mark Weatherley, who ran ninth with a time a time of 51.334 seconds on lap four.

Tag 125 Restricted Light Final
Trent Cossor jumped well closely followed by Chris Orders with Kris Usher holding down third, fourth early Ryan O’Sullivan and fifth Greg Gallagher, Cossor led the first nine laps of the final chased by Chris Orders, who moved into the lead on lap ten, after Cossor’s D.N.F. O’Sullivan up into second position from third, again due to the D.N.F. of Cossor on the previous lap,  Ryan O’Sullivan taking a pass on Chris Orders in the final lap to secure the win, second Orders, third Usher, fourth Farrell and fifth to Greg Gallagher, the fastest lap recorded by Ryan O’Sullivan with a time of 51.387 on lap seven. After the worst was dropped the podium saw Chris Orders first, second to Ryan O’Sullivan. Third Kris Usher, fourth Trent Cossor and fifth place going to Tim Farrell.

Tag 125 Restricted Heavy Heat 1 (28 entries)

A field of twenty eight took to the track for the first Heat of racing in Restricted Heavy and we were not to be disappointed, Shane Worby (#74) led away followed by Tony Knight (#28) then Mitch Green (#24), Perry Evans (#37) having his first competitive drive in I don’t know how many years, starting from fourth, fifth Chris (the Kiwi) Were (#47), lap two saw Knight move to the front followed by Marshall Watson (#19) in second, back to third Worby, up to fourth Chris Were and fifth now Perry Evans, lap three and the first five as per the previous lap, sixth Green and then Mark Keilar (#7) in seventh, moving forward into eighth Tony Grant (#68), dropping to ninth Chris Hazelden (#15) and tenth Paul Buchanan (#31), lap four no change the first eighteen with Ben Jenkinson (#17) up into twentieth, next Warren Neinert (#18) then Nicole Lynch (#8) from Allen Beaumont (#54) twenty second, Brian Peaker back to twenty third, lap five no change the first eleven with Mark Maczek (#95) up to twelfth, lap six no change the first ten, Maczek now eleventh, the penultimate lap and we see Tony Knight leading from Marshall Watson, third Chris Were, fourth Shane Worby going backwards and fifth Perry Evans, the final lap and Tony Knight runs out the winner 4.275 seconds ahead of second place Marshall Watson then Chris Were third 2.036 seconds back, fourth Shane Worby and fifth Perry Evans.

Tag 125 Restricted Heavy Heat 2
Tony Grant (#68) led away closely followed by Michael Fritz (#48) then Nathan Waldon (#80) followed by Mark Maczek (#95) and Aiden Shultz (#22) in fifth position, Waldon up into second early, lap two and Waldon moves to the front with Grant back to second, third now Maczek fourth Sultz falling away and fifth Chris Were (#47), lap three and Mazcek moves past Grant for second, Shultz still fourth and Were fifth, lap four and Mazcek takes charge by .141 of a second over Waldon dropping to second, Grant, Shultz and Were still as they were on the previous lap, further back Watson to eighth, Keilar back to ninth, Phillips back to tenth, lap five, half- way point and no change the first five, Baldry up to sixth, Fritz back to seventh, Watson, Keilar and Watkins in that order making up the top ten, lap six and Mazcek still leads but by only .138 of a second over a persistent Nathan Waldon, who led for the second and third laps before being swamped by Mark Mazcek on lap four, Mazcek goes on to win the heat from Waldon in second, third to Were, fourth Grant and fifth Aiden Shultz, the fastest lap recorded by Tony Knight who finished  in twentieth position with a time of 52.738 seconds on lap three.

Christopher Were led away followed closely by Marshall Watson, third early Mazcek then Phil Watkins fourth, Aiden Shultz in fifth, at the completion of lap two Mark Mazcek led from Aiden Schultz by .576 of a second at the line, third Tony Grant just .174 behind, Chris Were dropping back to fourth, Shane Worby up into fifth, lap three and Mark Mazcek had improved his lead , now .617 of a second to the better of Schultz, Chris Were moving back into third with Grant now back to fourth, still fifth Shane Worby, lap four and there is no change the first eight, with Waldon moving back into ninth and Rodgers back to tenth, lap five a half-way through the prefinal sees no change in the first four with Knight now fifth and Keilar up to sixth with Shane Worby dropping off into seventh, eighth Paul Buchanan, ninth Nathan Waldon and tenth Ben Rodgers,  lap six and Knight continues his march towards the front, now into fourth, Grant relegated back to fifth, the gap at the front between Mazcek and Schultz only .102 of a second, Paul Buchanan up into seventh with Shane Worby continuing his drop back into eighth, Waldon still ninth and Rodgers tenth, the penultimate lap sees Mazcek still leading this lap by .358 of a second over now second Chris Were with the demise of the second place Aiden Schultz dropping all the way back to twenty second, all in front get an automatic move forward, last lap and Mark Mazcek secures the win by .223 of a second over second, Chris Were, third going to Tony Knight, fourth Tony Grant and fifth Mark Keilar, the fastest lap recorded by Tony Knight with a time of 52.529 on lap eight.

Tag 125 Restricted Heavy Final
With Mark Mazcek off the front alongside Chris Were and the second row made up of Tony Knight and Tony Grant we were in for a final to tell your grand kids about, row three Mark Buchanan and Mark Keilar, row four Nathan Waldon and Shane Worby and the fifth row Ben Rodgers and Perry Evans, lap two saw the first changes with Mark Mazcek opening up a huge advantage of 3.320 seconds over second place Ben Rodgers, third .388 of a second back Paul Buchanan, then Perry Evans ( really starting to get “the feel” back after being out of the seat for so many years,)  and fifth Aaron Baldry, lap three and Paul Buchanan and Perry Evans having a disagreement over something and dropping back to Evans nineteenth and Buchanan twenty first, meanwhile the race continued with Marshall Watson taking full advantage of the disagreement a moving into third also Aaron Baldry fourth with Shane Worby now fifth, all other drivers back as far as nineteenth getting the free pass, lap four and Mazcek moves further forward to lead by 4.123 seconds over second place Ben Rodgers, third a further .289 of a second back to Marshall Watson then 1.603 seconds back to Aiden Schultz moving forward, relegating  Aaron Baldry back into sixth, next Nicole Lynch in seventh, eighth Tony Knight back to ninth Allan Beaumont and the top tenth position being held by Tony Grant, lap five Watson moves past Rodgers for third, Beaumont to seventh, Grant to ninth with Nicole Lynch dropping back into ninth and Tony Knight now tenth, we get to the half-way point of a very interesting final with Mark Mazcek leading by a margin now of 5.122 of a second over second place Watson, third a further .517 of a second back to Rodgers, then .500 to Worbey .187 of a second back to Aiden Schultz fighting hard to find a way into fourth, lap eight and no change the first seven with Knight now back to ninth and Allen Beaumont dropping back into tenth, lap eight and no change the first six, Knight now to seventh with Grant back one spot into eighth, ninth Beaumont and tenth again Nicole Lynch, with the ninth lap completed we see no change in the first nine placing’s with Jamie Page moving into the top ten relegating Nicole Lynch into eleventh, we move forward into lap ten, when, if you are going to make a move it is probable well advised to start working a strategy out, Mazcek in front now by 7.545 of a second over second place Watson, no change third, still Ben Rodgers with Aiden Schultz moving forward one more spot into fourth, fifth Worbey, sixth now Knight also moving forward, Baldry back to seventh, no change back to tenth, lap eleven and Mark Mazcek is cruising in front the gap now 8.439 seconds over second Marshall, Schultz another move forward, this time into third, Jamie Page up to ninth, Beaumont back to tenth, the final lap and Mark Mazcek takes his first win since returning to the sport, well done, second Aiden Schultz, third Marshall Watson, fourth Tony Knight, fifth Shane Worbey, the fastest lap recorded by Tony Knight with a time of 52.727 seconds on lap nine, the worst result of the day dropped and the podium was Mark Mazcek first, second going to Tony Knight, third to Chris Were, fourth Marshall Watson and fifth to Tony Grant.

TaG 125 Light Heat 1. (25 entries)

A large field of 25 drivers were front out onto the track for the first heat of racing for what has  become the unofficial feature class, of racing along with Tag 125 Heavy at the Home of Champions, Adam Mercer (#41) came from fifth on lap one to finally overall take Dalton Ellery (#42) who, had led from the start, to take the win by just .270 of a second over Dalton Ellery with Scott Gray (#7) the best of the rest, 2.028 seconds back in third, Scott Hynes (#49) in fourth with Tyler Greenbury (#5)  fifth, the fastest lap recorded by Tyler Greenbury with a 49.663 on lap five of the designated eight laps.

Tag 125 Light Heat 2
No qualifying for the class this month and as reverse grid lined up to do battle in the second heat, Troy Morrissey (#10) leading for the first four laps closely followed by Tyler Greenbury with Nicholas Dalton (#9) hanging in there for third, fourth early Chris Williams (#3), fifth Chris Burley (#8), on lap four Tyler Greenbury retired with a D.N.F. Troy Morrissey was passed by Nicholas Dalton and Chris Burley moved forward from fifth into fourth, fifth now but only for one lap Adam Mercer before moving forward past Chris Williams for fourth, Nicholas Dalton continued on to take the win by a margin of 2.046 seconds over second placed Troy Morrissey, Chris Burley, third, fourth to Adam Mercer and fifth going to Jordan Condor (#34) with a last lap pass on Chris Williams, the fastest lap recorded by Nicholas Dalton the winner with a time of 49.560 on lap four.

Tag 125 Light Prefinal.  
Adam Mercer led away with Jordan Condor in close pursuit, next Nicholas Dalton looking menacing, fourth Chris Burley and fifth Dalton Ellery, lap four and Dalton moved up to second past Condor, Chris Burley still in fourth, but only for one more lap before passing Condor into third, Condor now back to fourth, fifth still Dalton Ellery, who held this position up until lap six before being swamped by Tyler Greenbury and now back to sixth, seventh a consistent drive from Holly Patrizi (#29), eighth Regan Payne (#2), ninth Jarryd Ebzery (#6) and tenth Martin Swindells (#65), the gap between Mercer and Dalton for the lead just 85 one hundreds at the line, lap seven, and Dalton made his move past Mercer to secure the win, this the only position change on the lap, the final lap and Nicholas Dalton had it two from two with the margin back to Mercer just .231 of a second, third a strong finish by Chris Burley to finish 1.018 seconds back, fourth Tyler Greenbury securing a good starting position for the final and fifth  Jordan Condor, the fastest lap recorded by Tyler Greenbury with a time of 49.438 on lap seven.

Tag 125 Light Final.
Nicholas Dalton and Adam Mercer off the front row with Tyler Greenbury and Chris Burley off the second row was an indication of what to expect in the final, and we were not to be disappointed, Nicholas Dalton led lap one followed by Adam Mercer then Tyler Greenbury, fourth Chris Burley and fifth Jordan Condor, lap two and Mercer surges forward past both Dalton and Greenbury to grab the lead, Condor from fifth up to third with Dalton dropping back to sixth, fourth now Dalton Ellery with fifth Chris Burley, lap three and Greenbury takes control, with Mercer back to second, Condor still third,, fourth no change, Ellery and fifth Chris Burley, lap four no change the first six with Morrissey in seventh, eighth Payne, ninth Ebzery and tenth Patrizi, lap four no change the top ten, lap five, no change the first fifteen with Mitch Griffin (#83) moving into sixteenth, lap six Burley to third with Condor back one, no change seventh, eighth and ninth, tenth now Justin Garioch (#23), eleventh Scott Hynes (#49), lap seven no change the first nine, with Hynes and Garioch swapping back to the positions they had on the previous lap, lap eight Dalton up into fourth, Condor back to fifth, also Morrissey up one into sixth followed by Regan Payne with Garioch back to twelfth and Ellery now eighth, Martin Swindells up into eleventh, lap nine no change, lap ten Nathan Politch (#12) into twentyith, penultimate lap no change throughout and lap twelve we see Tyler Greenbury secure the win by 2.263 seconds over second place Adam Mercer with third to Chris Burley, fourth Nicholas Dalton, fifth Jordan Condor, sixth Troy Morrissey, seventh Regan Payne, eighth Dalton Ellery, ninth Jarryd Ebzery and tenth Scott Hynes, the fastest lap recorded by Tyler Greenbury with a time of 49.509 on lap seven. The worst results eliminated and the podium stood, with Nicholas Dalton taking the overall win, second to Adam Mercer, third going to a good drive from Chris Burley, fourth Tyler Greenbury and fifth Jordan Condor.

TaG 125 Heavy Heat 1. (16 entries)

Sixteen drivers presented themselves for the first heat of racing, at the completion of the first lap Patrick Maher (#76) led from Thomas Pomroy (#11) by .357 of a second with Daniel Creed third, fourth and fifth Clem O’Mara (#8)  lap two Scott Howard (#3) moved into seventh, relegating Ashley Lester (#27) back to eighth, ninth Kel Farrell (#7) and up into tenth Joel Gray (#13), lap three and Pomroy rushes into the lead, Mather now second, no change third and fourth, Trent Usher  (#85) into fifth, lap four and Mather having nothing to do with the pass on the previous lap by Pomroy takes back the lead, fifth through tenth get a free pass with Usher falling back into eleventh, lap five and Jarad Neinert takes third followed by O’Mara into fourth, Daniel Creed drops back to fifth, lap six no change the first six, Sam Houston (#47) up to seventh with Joel Gray eighth, ninth now Kel Farrell and tenth Shannon Price (#38), lap seven Clem O’Mara and Daniel Creed move up to third and fourth respectively with Neinert now back to fifth, sixth Lester, seventh Houston, eighth Gray, ninth now Price and tenth Kel Farrell, the final lap and Patrick Mather secures the win with a margin of .994 of a second over Clem O’Mara, third Thomas Pomroy, Daniel Creed fourth with Jarad Neinert holding onto fifth. The fastest lap recorded by Scott Howard, who had a D.N.F. on lap four with a time of 50.689 on lap three.

Tag 125 Heavy Heat 2. 
At the completion of the first lap Scott Howard (#3) led from Steve Vidler (#4) then Trent Usher (#85) with Joel Gray fourth and Clem O’Mara fifth, lap two Usher to second, Vidler back to third, Creed to fifth, O’Mara back to sixth, further back Lester to ninth and Nathan Thomas (#24) now tenth, lap three and we see Gray to third, O’Mara follows to fourth with Mather now sixth, Creed and Vidler back to sixth and seventh respectively, Lester to ninth and Kel Farrell back to ninth with Thomas Pomroy up into the top ten, lap four and we see no changes throughout the field, lap five Shannon Price into eighth followed by Pomroy now ninth and now Kevin Castles (#72) into the top ten, Lester and Farrell falling back, lap six we see a move forward by Clem O’Mara into third, Gray back one with Houston up to tenth, the penultimate lap we see no change the first seven, Pomroy to eighth, Price back to ninth and Sam Houston tenth, the last lap and Scott Howard secured the win by a margin of 2.199 seconds over second place Trent Usher, third going to Clem O’Mara. The fastest lap recorded by Sam Houston who finishes tenth with a time of 50.481 on lap two.

Tag 125 Prefinal.   
On the first lap of the prefinal we see Creed leading from Mather in second, third early O’Mara with Howard fourth and Usher fifth, lap two and Howard moves to second, Houston to sixth, Farrell into eighth, Neinert dropping back into tenth, lap three the lead still in the hands of Daniel Creed with Mather no change,  second and Howard third, Neinert and Farrell swapping positions again, further back Steve Vidler fighting his way back to eleventh almost into the top ten Steve, Price continuing to drop away, lap four and Howard moves up to second, a position to enable him to fight for the lead, lap six Creed continuing his good performance out in front by just .444 of a second with Howard snarling behind in second, third a change, O’Mara now looking to make a move, Shannon Price now back into fifteenth, Pomroy, Castles and Thomas getting the free pass, lap seven and Vidler drops out of contention now back to fourteenth, again the same three get another free pass, the last lap of the prefinal and Daniel Creed just gets there to take the win over Scott Howard the gap .192 of a second, third a touch over a full second back comes Clem O’Mara with Mather finishing fourth and Usher fifth. The fastest lap recorded by Jarad Neinert who finished seventh with a time of 50.571 on lap seven.

Tag 125 Heavy Final.
At the completion of the first lap Creed leads O’Mara by .261 of a second with Howard chasing hard a further .130 behind, fourth big Pat Mather and then Ashley Lester in fifth, lap two and Howard pushes his way up to second, Vidler up to ninth, Trent Usher an early D.N.F giving  Neinert, Thomas and Castles all a free pass, lap three the positions stay as is, lap four Houston to sixth, Pomroy now seventh, no change lap five, lap six Houston to fifth, Lester back to sixth, Neinert a D.N.F. and this time just Thomas and Castles getting the free pass, lap seven no change, lap eight still no change, Creed leading by .321 over Howard, O’Mara still third, lap nine as it was in the previous two laps, a thousandth of a second difference between Creed and Howard, lap ten and still no movement the gap now .341 of a s econd between the first two, the penultimate lap and the gap is down to .286 of a second, will Howard attempt a pass on the final lap and if he does, where will he try, he tries but had to settle for second, the win secured by Daniel Creed after a masterful display of driving, Scott Howard finishing in second, third Clem O’Mara just .304 of a second back, fourth going to Pat Mather and fifth a good drive from Sam Houston. The fastest lap recorded in the final going to Clem O’Mara on lap nine with a time of 50.622 seconds. The worst result of the day deleted and the podium was, Daniel Creed taking the overall win on the day, second going to Scott Howard, third to Patrick Mather, fourth Clem O’Mara and fifth to Trent Usher.

DD2 and DD2 Masters Heat 1 (Total 13 entries)

Qualifying got under way and it was soon evident that Troy Bretherton (#6) was the fastest of the group, a time of 48.999 guaranteeing Pole position for the first two heats of racing, P2, Tristan Ellery (#14) with a time of 49.245 seconds, P3, the first of our DD2 Masters, Luke Turner (#9) recording a time of 49.418 seconds, P4, and Steve Ellery (#99) also in the DD2 Master class (the difference being mainly the weight – DD2 at 173 Klgs and DD2 Masters at 180 Klgs) Ellery with a time of 49.582 seconds, next P5, Peter Virgulti (#20) also a Master class competitor with a time of 49.765 seconds, and P6, Edward Wilkins (#50) Master class with a time of 49.862 seconds. The first heat under way and with both classes running together it was too be expected that the lighter weight classes should dominate, that was true, to a point, Troy Bretherton DD2 competitor (#6) taking the win from Joshua Crossingham DD2 competitor(#2) who qualified with a 50.480 (12th) finishing in second, third to Steven Ellery (#99), fourth going to Luke Turner (#9), both third and fourth being Master class entries, and Edward Wilkins (#50) another Master class competitor finishing fifth, the fastest time recorded by Troy Bretherton with a time of 49.013 seconds on lap six. Incidentally the race distances for the feature class being 2 x 10 lap heats, prefinal of fifteen laps and the final only to count of 20 laps.

DD2 and DD2 Masters Heat 2
Troy Bretherton jumped cleanly followed closely by Josh Crossingham with Michael Fabri (#24) third, all DD2 drivers, next Luke Turner (#9) the first Master driver followed by Tristan Ellery (#14) another DD2 driver, lap two and Troy Bretherton (#) holds a lead of .304 of a second over, still second Josh Crossingham and third, no change, Michael Fabri, Scott Karandrews (#54) up to sixth, Peter Virguli (#7) now seventh, eighth Steve Ellery (#99) from Lee Castle (#47) also a Master, and back from many years off, back into the fray, holding ninth, Edward Wilkins (#50) now tenth, Brad Dawson (#48) holding eleventh with Shane Karandrews (#41) dropping to the rear of the field and taking no further part in the heat, lap three the gap between Bretherton and Crossingham moving out to .403 of a second with Fabri still third, lap four no change throughout the field, lap five Tristan Ellery up to third, Fabri drops to fourth, Steve Ellery moves forward into seventh, Virgulti now eighth, no change ninth and tenth, lap six, Bretherton now .892 to the better of Crossingham with Tristan Ellery a distant 2.716 seconds back in fourth, lap seven no change, lap eight still no change, lap nine and Bretherton has blown the lead out to 1.551 seconds advantage over Crossingham with a further 2.726 seconds back to third, fourth still Michael Fabri, now 2.302 seconds back, the final lap of the second heat and Troy Bretherton secures the win by a margin of 2.055 seconds ahead of Josh Crossingham with Tristan Ellery 2.644 second back in third, the fastest lap recorded by  Troy Bretherton with a time of 49.073 on lap ten.

DD2 and DD2 Masters Prefinal
Troy Bretherton makes it three from three with a resounding win over Tristan Ellery, the margin a huge 5.788 seconds, third, Steve Ellery the first of our Master class entries a further 3.750 seconds back, fourth going to Luke Turner consistent throughout the day, fifth Lee Castle starting to come to grips with the new chassis and engine and sixth Peter Virgulti, the fastest lap recorded by Troy Bretherton with a time of 49.024 on lap thirteen.

DD2 and DD2 Masters Final.
We come to the pointy end of the day for these drivers, question, who was saving tyres and engines throughout the heats and prefinal for a big run in the final? I can tell you, Troy Bretherton and Josh Crossingham that’s who, what a final, Bretherton jumps away to lead from Crossingham then Fabri, Bretherton leads the first three laps before Crossingham blows past into the lead, Bretherton back to second, third until lap five is Fabri, he is passed by Tristan Ellery with Steve Ellery (Dad) back in fifth after a pass on Luke Turner on lap three, Bretherton holds the lead for two laps before, and yes you guessed it, Joshua Crossingham comes back with a vengeance and snatches back the lead, the gap across the line just .060 of a second, Tristan Ellery up into third, Fabri drops to fourth, lap six and Bretherton takes the lead back from Crossingham, still third Tristan Ellery, fourth, and no change, Michael Fabri then Steven Ellery in fifth, lap seven and the fight for the lead goes on with now Crossingham .266 of a second in front at the line, no change the rest, lap eight and Crossingham still with the advantage in front, but the braking duel at the end of the back straight has to be seen to be believed, Crossingham in front, but Bretherton throwing out all his hooks and chattels to finish up in under Crossinghams  nerf bar, unbelievable, talk about exciting, spine tingling racing we have seen nothing like it this year, the final continues with Crossingham still in front but Troy Bretherton, I kid you not, like a cat, has thrown his nine lives on the line in an endeavour to get past, the duel continues for the rest of the final with Crossingham crossing the line first, but post- race technical inspection catches Joshua Crossingham out over the scales, underweight, and the win is handed to Troy Bretherton, second going to Tristan Ellery and third to Michael Fabri, all DD2 drivers, the fastest lap in the final going to Troy Bretherton with a time of 49.157 om lap sixteen, the DD2 Masters podium is as follows, first to Steven Ellery, second Luke Turner and third going to Edwards Wilkins, the fastest lap recorded by a Master class driver goes to Steven Ellery with a time of 49.430 on lap twelve.

Congratulations to all drivers on the day, a great display of skill and daring. The Club put $250.00 up for a draw at the end of the presentation, this for drivers competing on the day, a large crowd attended and waited with batted breath whilst the name was drawn out, it was a Junior National Light driver, what was his name – Tom Nankavil number 89, and he wasn’t there, the jackpot goes to $500.00 next meeting, don’t forget to notify young Thomas he missed out. Well, that’s all the action for the third round of the Ipswich Kart Club Championship and the second round of the DD2 and DD2 Masters, until then bye for now and safe driving.
