anything karting - tell us your news!

  • Now, this is a good action-packed video! Jordie Ford, fitted with heart rate monitor in KZ2 at the most recent round of CIK Stars of Karting, Bolivar. 125bpm and rising on pre-grid, 170 on the green light, 180s most of the time racing, peaking at 191 when lining up a pass. Pitty about the wipe-out at the end!

  • Allpower Speedway Nationals at Mildura this Friday and Saturday night. The meeting combines several classes (Modified Clubman, 125cc and Outlaws) to race side by side over a two night format. The small size of the Olympic Park track means, the organisers say, the faster engines have no advantage over the others. As well as the All-Powers class, there will be a Junior feature, Standard Clubman feature and a Modified Clubman feature.

  • The Jason Richards Memorial Award Presentation will be held at the Geelong Pro Tour Round after Friday (May 23) practice. A reminder that entry for the event closes this Wednesday, May 14. Go to the Pro Tour site for details: www.rotax.com.au/protour5

  • Profile photos of the drivers in the 2014 CIK Stars of Karting Championship are now on the series' Facebook page. Click HERE.

  • Kumho Tyre has signed as a sponsor of the Australian Schools Karting Championship that kicked off in Melbourne on Sunday. Race report and photos have been published HERE.

  • Vroom Magazine reports the passing of engine tuner Joe Romano. A 'low-profile engine wizard, the tuner of tuners' passed away at his home on Saturday. He was also a contributor of technical articles to Vroom. More on the Vroom website HERE.

  • As of this afternoon (Monday) 113 entries are on the books for round 3 of the Victorian Country Series at Horsham this weekend. Spot prizes will be drawn for those who enter by 5pm Wednesday. The track is one of only a few old school short circuits left in the state and is a favourite with drivers as the shorter lap times with six turns gives them a different challenge to think about. As already published, resurfacing works have removed the large bump that was on the apex of the final corner, giving drivers a smoother and faster run onto the straight. Prizes will be drawn on Saturday during practice to ensure racing gets underway early on Sunday. One of the local drivers who will be looking to make a good impression will be Brayden Souter in Junior National Light. Souter has been running strongly in the mid field so far this series and will be looking to have another strong result on his home track.
