Vic Superkarts Round 3

from Rolf Greve 5 May 2014

Superkarts returned to the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit on May 3rd for Round three of the 2014 club series.

The club welcomed several Interstate competitors including current Australian 250 International Champion Russell Jamieson from Queensland and veteran driver Barb Hepworth from South Australia. Also from Interstate were Ilya Harpas (SA) and Terry Buchanan (QLD).

The 250 Internationals looked quick in not so perfect weather conditions and most of the field vied for one of the podium spots, the end result being Russell Jamieson in first, Gary Pegoraro in second and Martin Latta in third.
In the 250 National class it was Dave Murphy who led home Raff Pirioni. The end result from the Pro Bolt Australia 125 cc gearbox class was a clean sweep to Shane Fewster ahead of Rob Millar and engine plagued Barbara Hepworth.

The Woodgate Racing sponsored Stock Honda class saw all the action with close racing all day and the slightest mistake costing drivers dearly. In the End it was Nathan Prior in first ahead of Rick Hobman and Craig Edwards.

Non Gearbox light, sponsored by Hold on to Life had some unexpected results with Fabrice Borroni taking the win ahead of Tim Clarke, and Tyler Williams enjoying a great day securing his first senior trophy.

Meanwhile back in the Oz Design Nunawading Non Gearbox heavy class both Jamie MacDonald and Rod Clarke were in for a podium showdown finishing first and second respectively while new to the sport Michael Ambruosi opened his account with the third place. Micheal’s son Alex also took to the track as a Junior and enjoyed his first day on such a magnificent circuit.
