Karting News Briefs

  1 May 2014

updates of and for the karting world...

  • Dealer services this weekend:
    • The Master Karting spare parts van & trailer will be at the Gippsland Kart Club at Morwell this weekend for round 2 of the Golden Power Series.
    • Project X Racing will split this weekend between Young Guns (Lismore) and CIK (Bolivar). Shop hours on Friday will be 10am to 4pm. Stocked trackside customer support will be at Lismore.

  • Heaps of photos from the WA SE Zone meeting at Kalgoorlie last weekend can be viewed HERE - but you'll need to be on Facebook to see them...

  • Also, photos have been added to the Oakleigh club's race day report that was published on Sunday HERE - these are part of the KartSportNews site, so everybody can see them :)

THEFT is ILLEGAL, whether it be physical items, or content from websites. It's kinda flattering when I see words I've authored or edited appear in other locations, but it just shouldn't happen like it does. I guess some people just don't have a moral compass for what's right and what's wrong these days...

Those who are stealing stuff from KartSportNews should make themselves familiar with the copyright licence under which the site operates - you can read it HERE (Creative Commons 'Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives').

I'm more than happy for people to share KartSportNews content (in fact, I encourage it!), but it should be for non-commercial purposes, unaltered (eg, no cropping photos to remove watermarks) and give full credit to the source.

  • John Iafolla won Junior National Heavy at the Newcastle Nationals recently. He featured in a "Iafolla in national karting boilover" article on the Illawarra Mercury website. Read it HERE.

  • The karting division of ART Grand Prix and the Automotive Group of the Mechanical Engineering Department at University of Brescia have joined forces to create "Kart_Lab". It's a programme set to study, test and find new solutions for kart performance with the help of an entire University department. They're currently using a Rotax powered ART GP chassis fitted with Magneti Marelli data acquisition. More on Vroom HERE.

  • Also via Vroom is this great pic sent to them by Paul Cirillo; rear tyre distortion! Amazing what those little rubber bags of air get up to...

  • WKA (World Karting Association) President Rick Dresang has sent an open letter to the entire WKA membership about re-surfaced rumours of the association's future and solvency. He advises that "...financial commitments and responsibilities of the past have been remedied and WKA’s financial future looks strong. Over the last three years WKA has turned a corner and begun to once again show respectable year-end profits. With this financial stability have come a number of improvements to WKA’s racing programs, office operations and shop operations." To read the letter, click HERE. (for those not aware, the World Karting Association is a sanctioning body for the sport in North America, not the entire world...)

  • Information about the 2014 United States Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals has been released. An event schedule, pit requirements, accommodation info and and other details are now taking shape. Further information on the American GoRotax site HERE.
