Grids Decided For Championship Finals

The polesitters for the Championship Finals at the 52nd Australian National Sprint Kart Championships have been decided in Newcastle this afternoon.

Following three action-packed 10-lap heats and a 14-lap pre-final, the eight classes will have eight different drivers set to start on pole position for tomorrow’s 20-lap finals.
Queenslander Brendan Nelson continued his domination of the X30 Heavy category by winning the pre-final this afternoon, he will be joined on the front row for tomorrow’s final by Shay Mayes.
After finishing runner-up to Nelson in the X30 class, Mayes fended off a late race charge by fastest qualifier David Sera (right, Coopers pic) to claim pole position in the Clubman Heavy class. Sera was forced to start the pre-final in sixth place due to a mechanical issue in heat two this morning before charging his way to the front.
Sera too will start on the front row for two classes with victory in X30 Light this afternoon.
The scene is set for a scintillating final in the capacity field of Junior National Light with Jayden Ojeda leading home William Brown and Dylan Hollis in an action-packed pre-final.
Brown made it a pair of second places this afternoon when he finished second behind a dominant Drew Ridge in the Junior Clubman pre-final.
Aaron Cameron (left - Coopers pic) continued his good form as he chases his maiden national championship in the Junior National Heavy class while fellow Victorian James Sera was unstoppable in the Clubman Light pre-final.
Four-time National Champion Matthew Waters will lead the field away in Senior National in tomorrow’s final.
The finals will begin tomorrow morning from 8:30am with All Sports Radio streaming live audio throughout the day on http://www.allsportsradio.com.au
