NSWSKC Set For Season Opener

press release 10 March 2014

After Round 1 was washout due to persistent showers in the Penrith region, the New South Wales Speedway Kart Club is ready to kick off season 2014 this weekend with the Nepean Open. A large number of entries will be expected for what will be the opening round of the year.

Tony Ball Painting Services has jumped on board to become the major sponsor for this weekends meet. There’s always a first for everything, first time that Tony Ball has sponsored an event at the NSWSKC and it will also be his first race meeting with the Club. Ball is expected to make his debut in the Clubman Heavy class come Sunday and is relishing the opportunity.

Being a new season there are plenty of new faces making their start in the Speedway Karting scene. Whether it is new families joining, or the younger generation of pervious stars finally getting their chance to shine, it always makes for an exciting prospect. Halle Boyd and Jac Laneyrie are welcomed into the club this weekend and will make their start in the cadets class. Names such as Wray and Pacchiaortta are well known in the NSW Speedway industry, and now the new wave of family tackers are set to take part with Zac Pacchiaortta and Jacob Wray in Juniors. One of the most synonymous names in Speedway returns to the racetrack once again, Hopping. Nathan Hopping is set to debut at the Nepean venue on Sunday in the KT category and the long awaited karting career of Samantha Shute will also begin on Sunday in the KT class as she is set to compete in her #22 kart.

A dozen drivers are moving up into new classes this weekend as well. Defending Cadets champion Connor Moreau will make his step up into the Rookies class along with Payton Coghlan, Ethan Rietdyk,  Ben Matchett, William Stevens and Jack Selmes. The Juniors are set to expand this year with Kaidon Brown, Liam Camilleri, Bailey Goodwin and David Blanch all joining the ranks.  2013 Club Champion Daniel Sayre moves up into Seniors in the KT class along with lady racer Elise Bourke.

All these drivers will go up against the regular stars that we see at Nepean Raceway for the opening round of the season. Six classes will compete throughout the course of the day. There will be three rounds of heats before a final.

The club would also like to make note that our first meeting at Kurri Kurri Speedway on May 4th is fast approaching. Make sure everyone puts this date in their calendar as it is set to be a momentous day for the club as it will be the first ever Go Kart meeting at Kurri Kurri. The club is extremely proud to have secured this venue and is excited about racing there for the very first time.

Racing on Sunday will get underway at 10am, entry is $5 for adults and all canteen facilities will be open. You will find Nepean Raceway on Rickards Road, Castlereagh.

The NSWSKC would like to thank their sponsors for their ongoing support of the club.
