Sorensen to Take 5 with HDR Arrow Karts

press release 13 February 2014

22-year old Browns Plains Auto Mechanic, Scott Sorensen will take up the wheel as driver of the Arrow X3 racing #5 KF Pro Light entry in the 2014 Australian CIK Stars of Karting Series for the manufacturer supported team, HDR Arrow Karts.

Coming off the back of a previous full year of Rotax Light racing in the 2013 Australian Pro Tour series of events, Sorensen has found a strong new home in the well-resourced Yatala based team, with plenty of good equipment and commercial support available to him.  He will join up with Jarryd Ebzery in the Pro Light class and Brenton Simonds in the TaG Heavy class, to form a strong 3 kart team in this year’s national travelling series.

Having raced continuously for the past 12 years since joining the Karting fraternity at the age of 10, Sorensen has some credible results and silverware locked away in his trophy cabinets, including a 2nd place in the 2009 Australian National Championships against the likes of Matt Waters and Cian Fothergill and also a Queensland State Title win to his name in that same year.

No stranger either to the CIK Stars of Karting Series racing format, Scott won the TaG Light class in the 2011 Ipswich Round of the national Series and finished 8th in TaG Light last year at the Queensland local round.

“We’ve been searching to find someone of Scott’s calibre to join our team, as we were always intent on fielding two competitive HDR Arrow X3 chassis in the KF Pro Light class in 2014, but as per our selection guidelines, it had to be the right person and the right fit to keep up the professional standards and harmony that we have going in the Team at the moment,” said Team Manager, Craig Doyle.

“Within a day or two, the whole of Team Sorensen has got on immediately with what needs to be done to prepare for the season ahead.  They bring tremendous resource to preparation work.  Equally we’re impressed as to Scott’s attitude toward instantly ramping up his fitness program, recognising that he needs to gain some weight in the next few weeks prior to the opening round.”

In addition to Scott joining the Team, multi Business Achievers award winners and RACQ Automotive Repairers, “Steve Sorensen Mechanical” will also join HDR Arrow Karts as a new Team Partner for the 2014 calendar season of racing.  Their business brand will be woven into the Karts livery, online Social Media, signage; and intertwined in other promotional activities throughout the year.

“We are very much looking forward to being part of the team,” said Steve and Robyn Sorensen, after confirming the deal in the past week.  “This is a great opportunity for Scott and the fly in – fly out logistics support that HDR is providing, allows us to maximise our racing for the year and minimise our time away from the business.  HDR Arrow Karts have great record of presenting well on and off the track, and we’re pleased for our business to be associated with the Team.”

The Steve Sorensen Mechanical supported HDR Arrow Karts Team will launch their new racing karts and livery prior to Ipswich’s Opening Round 1 of the 5 round national 2014 CIK Stars of Karting Series, on March 28 - 29, 2014.
