Karting News Briefs

  • VIDEO: Rotax MAX Challenge / Pro Tour Australia promotional video, filmed at the Melbourne round last weekend. Technically, it's not BingaVision, but it was made by Binga (Brinley Gread). Great stuff! (if the video doesn't play here, try using a different web browser)

  • KartSchool will be at the Brian Farley meeting at Eastern Creek this weekend. They'll have a wide range of consumables with them plus a number of specials on the day.

  • Jules Bianchi's father, Philippe, has announced a karting team in France - 'Bianchi Driver Team'. In conjunction with Jean-François Peisselon, the program will involve drivers from Minikart, Minimal, Cadet and National classes racing in the colours of ART-GP in France. Peisselon's son Timothy will be the team's Cadet pilot.

  • The MAXspeed group in USA are offering trade-ins when purchasing new Rotax MAX engines. In an unprecedented move, the company will trade many popular kart engines - such as X30, Vortex RoK, Yamaha, Shifter engines etc - and provide up to $750 of credit towards a Rotax powerplant. The trade in motors will "be retired from the karting community". That's one way of getting the opposition engines out of the market!

  • Video of the Midgets final from last years Queensland Closed Titles at the Whitsunday Motorsport Complex:

  • A gallery of pictures from the 3rd annual Winter Kart Show in the United States is now online. Housed in the Illinois State Fairgrounds, the show is hosted by Mid-State Kart Club and had a wide range of product and services on offer for sprint, oval, 2-stroke, 4-stroke and vintage karts, plus heaps of accessories. • The X30 Challenge Europa will be held at the Mariembourg circuit in Belgium in April. The 'Big One' for X30 racers, the IAME X30 International Final, will take place at Le Mans France, from 16th to 19th October.

  • The FIA has opened a new Logistics and Technical Centre in France. “For some time now it has been our intention to centralise our logistical and technical operations under one roof and it is my great pleasure to at last see that wish fulfilled,” said FIA President Jean Todt. Designed as the technical hub for the FIA’s major Championships, the new 9000m2 facility is just over 20km away from the FIA’s Geneva offices. As well as providing much-needed office space, the facility will house all the support vehicles and equipment the FIA regularly sends to events, such as the Formula One Grands Prix and the World Karting Championships. It will also be home to the FIA’s homologated equipment, electronics and IT supports, mechanical systems and archives.
