10 Drivers For Project X Racing @ Pro Tour

press release 20 January 2014

With 2014 well underway the Project X Racing team is about to set off for its first Major of the year, 2013/2014 Rotax Pro Tour. With 10 drivers on board it’s set to be a big weekend for the team.

Project X Racing is spear headed by Karting veteran, William Yarwood. With over 10 National titles, 42 State titles and being the First Australian to make the Podium at the Rotax World Finals.

“I am really excited with the Season ahead, not only for our Pro Tour entrants but all our other team members that have joined us this year. We have some exceptional team recruits this year from Cadets to CIK classes. It’s going to be great fun to be a part of and I really want to thank everyone as it’s a real team effort. To get to this point is an achievement given it is really only the start of our 2nd Season as a team.”

Returning from the 2013 season in DD2 is Clem O’Mara. Aboard his #67 machine backed by Glasshouse Autobody, Clem is poised for a great weekend and is very happy with his last hit out last weekend. Joining Clem in DD2 is Michael Fabri as he steps up into the senior karting category. Michael will be contesting the DD2 Rotax class in an Exprit Kart under the watchful eye of Project X racing team principal, William Yarwood.

“I am really excited to compete at the Rotax Pro Tour this year. Todd Road at the end of January will be my first race in the DD2 and I am looking forward to it, hopefully we can bring back a decent result. The extra speed and braking performance in the DD2 is unlike Jmax and this brings a whole new level of driving style that I will have to adapt to. The help that we have received on and off the track from William Yarwood has been exceptional and I would like to thank Will for all the time and effort that he has put into helping me and also the team” Michael commented.

Also Competing in the DD2 we have new team members including Tristan, Dalton and Steve Ellery who are carrying the support of Chelgrave Contracting and will be spannered by Garth Auld. It will be an exciting weekend for the Ellery Clan as Steve narrowly missed the podium on his debut in the Exprit kart at Albury last year. With loads of miles under the boys’ belts since their last major, and being greeted with podiums at their local lead up meets, it looks like it’s the start of something big for the Family.

Speaking of big, 6 foot 6 entrant Luke Turner is travelling south for the first time to Todd Road. The Brisbane based driver has been working hard on his driving technique and fitness throughout the Christmas break by completing hundreds of laps at his home track under the guidance of Sam Houston and veteran William Yarwood from Project X Racing. Luke is hoping or a great result in Melbourne after getting his first top 5 Pro Tour result at Gympie last year.

Joining Luke and Steve in DD2 Masters is Peter Vigulti. Peter debut in the 2013 season and is looking to make some in roads with his results as they don’t match the speed he has shown in the previous rounds. Through the off season Pete has honed his Audiocraft’s weak spots trying to make amends of his short fall.

James Wilkins, 17, born in England is also breaking new territory in Melbourne as he enters his third year of karting. James ambition for the season ahead is to climb the ranks and learn the craft all before his studies start where he intends to become a graphic designer. With the Assistance of Flowtek and his father Eddie, he will make the connection.

The youngest member of the Project X Racing Pro Tour team is Joshua Davey. Josh has just moved up into Jmax and is very excited to be competing at this year’s pro tour and is really looking forward to the event. “We have been putting in a lot of laps and hard work to get myself and the kart prepared for the meeting. None of this would have been possible without the support of my family and my sponsors, Fastech Trailers, Glode Realty and Will Yarwood from Project X Racing.”

The Project X Racing team will arrive this Thursday for set up and track walks at the recently resurfaced Todd Rd, Melbourne.
