Road Safety Campaign At 'Kart In Town'

On the closing day of Kart in Piazza (Kart in Town), WSK Promotion took part in the road safety campaign for youngsters, with the compliments of the FIA President Jean Todt.

Karts take over downtown. The most important authorities of international Motorsport, together with some protagonists of the world of motor racing, joined Kart in Piazza (Kart in Town) on the closing day of the 2013 event. Kart in Piazza has been conceived as an event which aims at making youngsters paying more attention to road safety issues. The road safety campaign is promoted by ACI (Automobile Club of Italy) and it is part of the “Action for Road Safety” campaign promoted by FIA. WSK Promotion joined the campaign, taking part in the event of Lecce. With its participation, WSK aims at pointing out how important safety issues are also in top level sports events.

The importance of “Kart in Piazza” in making youngsters aware of road safety issues - FIA and ACI have been always greatly committed to this task - was pointed out by the FIA President Jean Todt, who took part in the event on its closing day. Jean Todt was welcomed by the ACI President Angelo Sticchi Damiani. There were, of course, many protagonists of motor racing such as Dindo Capello, 3-time winner of the 24hs of Le Mans, the runner up of the Superstock 600 European Championship, Alessandro Nocco, and the winner of the WSK Euro Series in KZ2, Riccardo Negro. The venue of the event was the provisional racetrack set up at the Exhibition Centre of Lecce (Lecce Fiere). The WSK Station and the WSK Race Control were placed next to the racetrack. They are mobile structures used during races for hospitality-race secretary and TV control centre.

Jean Todt's compliments to Luca De Donno

WSK's presence aimed at pointing out its commitment to road safety. Children aged 6-10 got to know the rules of safe driving behind the wheel of electric powered karts in order to enhance safety standards in kart racing competitions reserved to junior drivers. For this reason, too, Jean Todt praised Luca De Donno's activity as President of WSK Promotion during the final press conference.
