This has fundamentally helped Liam in becoming recognised as one of the nation’s most impressive junior drivers, and a force to be reckoned with at every event.

“It has been a great year, with the help of Shamick Racing at every event. You could definitely say that reward and effort were very closely linked, winning rounds both at CIK and Pro Tour came hard but it was all worth it,” McLellan said.

One of Liam’s most notable achievements was securing the National Championship for the Pro Junior category in the CIK Stars of Karting Series. Lining up against some of the nation’s best young drivers, McLellan came out on top, with a strong result at the final round helping him to secure the official ‘green plate’.

“This was my first ever National title and it’s a great achievement and a perfect reward for the hard work we have put in over the whole year,” McLellan added.

As a result of his podium in his home state at the Rotax Nationals, McLellan was officially granted the opportunity to join eleven of his fellow countrymen as part of Team Australia for the 2013 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in New Orleans, USA. The overseas experience will be capped off by entry into the Las Vegas ‘SuperNats’ event on the following weekend which will allow Liam to display his talent on a global stage.

“To represent my country at the Rotax World Finals is such a great achievement for myself, OK1 and the CC Racing Team who have been with me this whole year. I am nervous to see how I will go against the World’s best but I know if I give it 100% with the support of my family and everyone in Australia I can do well,” McLellan concluded.

Liam’s next event will the inaugural Gold Coast ‘Race of Stars’ on October 19 as part of the build up to the 2013 Armor All Gold Coast 600 for the V8 Supercars.
