Ipswich Developments

press release 22 July 2013

a message from Ipswich Kart Club

As many of you are now aware the IKC was invited by the Ipswich City Council to participate in discussions pertaining to the redevelopment of the entire Ipswich MotorSport Precinct.

In attendance the european designers took particular interest in the IKC Track and indicated they would like to create a world class venue which met European CIK Specifications. Current boundary fences would be removed. No dates nor time frames have been set however all indications of progression are very positive to date. As the development is of a massive undertaking it will no doubt take time.

Our meetings and contact with the Council are continuing however in the meantime the pit areas will be undergoing a major upgrade starting next week. For this reason those who will be attending the upcoming race meeting on the 3rd August will need to bring their own marquee's as no cover will be available. These days more competitors are now using their own trailers to work out of therefore the new pit bays will accommodate this.

Over the coming months many small but significant changes will also start taking place however one major change we are still currently working on is the swap over to Complete Track LED Lighting. A much greener, extremely brighter and most importantly cost effective solution than what we currently have.

Our next race meeting will be on the Saturday 3rd August. The Feature events will be the Graham Acreman Memorial Trophy for Tag Lights and the IKC Tag Heavy Title Perpetual Trophy.

The Featured events will consist of Qualifying followed by 2 heats of 8 laps, prefinal of 12 laps and Final of 15 Laps. See supp regs for details. A fantastic Day/Night of racing followed by a very special Presentation.

"Compete against the best in the country". State and National Title Holders Free Entry!
