Hughes Switches To Formula K

  5 June 2013

Long time Kosmic driver Adam Hughes has switched brands and will race a Formula K chassis in the CIK Stars of Karting round at Geelong later this month. The following is from the Stars of Karting series's website:

Adam Hughes will be aboard a Formula K kart in the Pro Gearbox (KZ2) category for the third round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series held at Geelong’s Beckley Park International Raceway next weekend (June 15/16).

Hughes’s switch to the Formula K brand proves a pivotal move for the 2012 Pro Light (KF1) Champion, who has spent many years behind the wheel of a Kosmic Kart which lead to great success including three Australian Championships.

“Making the switch to Formula K chassis was not an easy decision, but one I feel will benefit my KZ campaign. I’m super excited about the next round and with the help of Jace Lindstrom I hope to be able to run towards the pointy end of the field. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Remo Luciani for all his help over the past six years with the Kosmic Kart, however we will still be working very hard together to get the IAME engine up the front,” Hughes said.

Formula K Australia boss Jace Lindstrom is eager to get Hughes up to speed as quick as possible to help strengthen the ever growing reputation of the brand in Australia.

“It’s always good to have a current Australian title holder in your team. Adam knows what it takes to win at the highest level and I can now help him achieve that with the Formula K brand in the Pro Gearbox (KZ2) category. We have had an amazing start to 2013 for Formula K Australia and I am hoping Adam can help keep that ball rolling for me and the whole team. With the inclusion of Adam and Aaron Ivermee alongside KZ2 front runner Lee Mitchener I believe I have got 3 drivers that are more than capable of winning and bringing home podiums for us,” Lindstrom said.

Returning for next weekend’s race meeting will be Hughes’s regular mechanic Josh Brooker who will work alongside the 2011 Bathurst Champion Nick Percat boosting Hughes’s chances of a solid result.

Practice for the event will be held on Friday June 14 ahead of qualifying and the heat races on Saturday June 15. The finals will be contested on Sunday June 16. Admission is free for spectators.
