  • Joseph Mawson enjoyed his best result yet at a WSK Euro series round, placing 11th in the KF final at Genk on Sunday. The Aussie Top Kart driver had put in a huge drive to come from 31st to almost crack the top ten. He started the Final from grid 22. "Unfortunately in the first corner I was pushed off and onto the grass, went back to 31st after the first turn and drove my way up to 11th by the finish!" he wrote on Facebook. "(It was) a great result for me with the circumstances that occurred and we can takes some positives to my next race which will be the 1st Round of the CIK/FIA European Championships at Alcaniz, Spain."

Joseph had earlier qualified 24th in the 53 kart field 0.286s off pole. After getting belted about in a couple of the heats, he carded 12th, 10th, 10th and 21st (dnf) to rank 33rd. "Each race we were improving with the kart and engine, so fairly happy with how things went with the situations we were in". Starting the pre-final off the last row, Mawson moved up to 17 by the end, but copped a 5s penalty for contact and had to start the final 22nd.
The 5 points earned from this round placed him 25th in the championship, which was won by Dorian Boccolacci.
