Ben Van Ryt Returns To WA KZ2 Series

press release 31 May 2013

Ben Van Ryt has once again joined ranks in the Auto 1 West Australian KZ2 championship.

With his busy media schedule and TV show commitments for Channel 7’s ‘House Rules’, Van Ryt hasn’t had much chance to brush up on his racing skills since racing in last year’s Stars of Karting under the PatriziCorse banner where he got a few commendable results. Ben was also in the running to win the WAKZ2 series up until the last race during the prestigious Dash for Cash in Kalgoorlie.

Now Ben returns to the series under the Lenzo Kart Australia team. When asked about his return ben had this to say. “Honestly, I haven’t been in a kart since last year’s dash for cash, so it was always going to be a bit rusty for sure. I tried to keep my eye in by watching a lot of the on board footage floating around on YouTube. When I finally found out the date I was going to be getting home. I got straight onto the phone to ‘Pistol Pete’ (Bens’ Mechanic) and organised to get the kart ready so we could be race the 2nd round at Cockburn.”

Ben didn’t disappoint and showed why he is constantly at the pointy end of many races. In his new Lenzo/LKE he was able to pull off a constant 5th placing over the weekend before having a mechanical failure in the final. Overall though he was happy with his first race back in the Lenzo Chassis. “I love the Lenzo, it’s also great to have Brendan at every big meeting to give us some fine tuning advice when we need it. Of course having Joeys knowledge of KZ2 is just priceless for the team as well.”

The Auto 1 KZ2 Series continues onto Bunbury for the very first time next weekend with a field of 25 expected to be there, Ben was confident of his chances. “This weekend I want to go for the win, it’s just the racer instinct I think, but realistically I would be stoked to be in the top 5 with guys like Joey, Millsy, Currey, Gwilliam. Even more so with the progression of the younger guys like Klarich and LeCocq. It should be some great racing.”

The Auto 1 KZ2 Series is the main feature of the Bunbury Kart Club – Coastal Classic on the 8th and 9th of June. The KZ2 Final will be held on the Saturday night.
