Speedway Grand Prix Set To Ignite

press release 31 May 2013

The best speedway karters in NSW will converge on the Nepean Raceway dirt when the NSW Speedway Kart Club presents the Speedway Grand Prix in conjunction with round five of the club championship. As the season reaches its midway stage, points are ever so important as driver fight for an elusive championship crown.

Already this season ninety five drivers have taken to the dirt with Daniel Sayre leading the overall Club Championship on 463 points. Daniel has been in a class of his own this season in the Juniors having only finished one race outside the top three all year. As always young stars such as Marcus Dumesny, Jake Donaldson, Matthew Geering and younger brother Luke Sayre will be keen to reel Daniel in this Sunday.

Connor Moreau has been unstoppable so far this season in the Cadets winning all four rounds to date. He enjoys a 29 point margin heading into this weekend. Ethan Rietdyk, Payton Coghlan and Brayden Shute will be among just some of the young Cadets that will be looking to take an upset win this weekend.

Both Andrew Sayre and Kaidon Brown have been sharing wins between them in 2013 as the battle of two continues this weekend in Rookies. Luke Geering will be full of confidence this weekend after claiming the Junior Allstars at Mildura just two weeks ago. He currently sits third in the standing just three points back from Brown.

Clubman Light has been one of the most hotly contested classes so far in season 2013. The last four rounds have seen four different round winners. Can they make it five from five this weekend? Jake Baines currently leads the class, 15 points clear of Alana Onley. Wayne Baines will try and continue his great run of form after taking out the previous round. No doubt the fight between he and his son Jake will be set to continue this weekend.

Les Green currently leads the standing in Clubman Heavy, however Matthew Elliot has taken two out of the four round wins so far. He will be trying to make it three this weekend and be the first person in the class to go back to back.

Finally KT Modified has been swamped with a raft of entries so far this season. The huge field is ready to do battle again this weekend. Donald Stevens, recently named the ‘Master’, is currently on top of the standings heading into round five. After claiming two out of the four round wins he will once again be tough to beat. Brad Cunneen will be giving him a run for his money though as Brad returns to Nepean after having a successful trip racing down south.

So the fight in all classes will be on once again, the question remains though, who will be crowned the Speedway Grand Prix Champion? Make sure you come out the Nepean Raceway this Sunday the 2nd June from 10am on Rickards Road , Castlereagh to catch the great Speedway action. Entry is $5 for adults and all canteen facilities will be open.

The NSWSKC would like to acknowledge and thank all their corporate partners for their continued support throughout 2013.
