Baines Family To Contest Speedway Kart GP

press release 28 May 2013

The Baines Family Motorsport Team has had a great start to the 2013 season.

This year Jake (16-year old son) has moved into the senior ranks and is racing against Wayne (Dad)  in Clubman Light class in both the NSW Speedway Kart Club and the Central Coast Speedway Kart Club’s 2013 Championships.

At this stage of the season, Jake is leading the NSW Speedway Kart Club Championship and Wayne is leading the CCSKC Championship.

The season started well for Jake beating Wayne in the first three meetings they contested; then Wayne hit back taking honours in the fourth show.

Since then Jake has won another round with Wayne just beating him the last two times out with the pair taking a first and second on the day at both Clubs.

This weekend will see them shape up again at the running of the NSWSKC’s  Round 5 - The Speedway Kart Grand Prix - being held at the Nepean Motorsport Complex at Castlereagh on Sunday,  2nd June.

The meeting will see the boys try to rack up as many of the all important season Championship points they can, as they try to consolidate their positions at the top of the table. It will also be the last chance they have to sort out their machines prior to the NSW State Championships being held the following week in Gosford.

The other member of the Baines Family Motorsport Team, Tim Baker, is doing a remarkable job racing in the KT Modified Class for the first time in his career.

This year at the NSWSKC the Light and Heavy classes came together to form one class and Tim, who gives away 25/30kgs to a number of his competitors, has been mixing it with some of the best drivers and showing his driving talent.

The exercise has helped him refine his equipment and driving skills and he will be a real contender at the NSW State Championships when he steps back into the Heavy class at that meeting. This year, running in the Heavy class at the CCSKC meetings, Tim has recorded a second place and a first place in his last two outings at the Gosford Showground.

The Baines Family Motorsport Team would like to acknowledge and thank all their corporate partners for their continued support throughout 2013.
