  • Having fallen ill at the WSK Euro round in Italy last month, Joseph Mawson enjoyed a much better meeting at the Sarno WSK Masters event on the weekend. His Euro-based Aussie mechanic, Ben George, did much preparation work on Joey's Top Kart/TM before taking to the circuit. Mawson qualified 15th in the 44-kart field (0.388s behind pole, Boccolacci) and carded 3rd, 17th and 20th (DNF, turn 2 crash) in the heats. This qualified him for the finals without having to compete in a second chance race. George reported on facebook that he and Joey decided for the pre-final to "give up our 28th start position and start last to avoid lap one crashes." Mawson then charged through to 15th and was 5th fastest. "The final was looking promising but a puncture in the formation lap ended our hopes of a possible podium finish. It was great to see Joey at his best again."
