Five Victories For Arrow At 2013 Nationals

  • Deadly is Back! Dave Sera becomes a 14 x Australian Champion and adds to Arrow’s 5 Victories at the 2013 National Championships
  • Arrow now sets sight on 100 National championships after breaking into the 90’s 

The 51st Australian National Championships were held once again on the Easter long weekend, which saw karters from all over Australia searching for green plates on the South Australian circuit of Monarto (Murray Bridge) rather than chocolate Easter eggs. Nonetheless, the best of the best in Australian Karting provided closer and harder racing than ever before, with most drivers being separated by only thousandths in their subsequent classes. Arrow Drivers figured prominently in every class, with a large amount of podium finishes including a total of 5 (out of 9) Australian Championship titles achieved. Karting Superstar, and long-time arrow driver, David Sera was the only driver at this years Championships to win 2 classes with victory in both the Clubman Heavy & Leopard Light Categories.

Junior National Heavy

As more recent times have showed, Arrow dominated the Junior National Heavy category, proving once again the kart to have in the junior ‘j’ classes. KTEQ Rentals backed driver Nick Rowe led the early running of the final, before an intense battle showcased several lead changes between Rowe and CC Racing’s Jordan Boys. In the end Boys crossed the line for a much-deserved win and the 2013 Australian Championship, with Arrow also securing the top 5 spots with J&A’s Will Hawkes 2nd, Nick Rowe 3rd, Zac Phillips 4th & Bryce Fullwood 5th.

Leopard Light

Arrow & KTEQ Rentals pilots Ben Stewart & David Sera showed the way for the Australian chassis at this years Australian Championships, with the pair having exceptional speed whilst making their way right up into the top 3 (Stewart 2nd, Sera 3rd) by Sundays all important final race. In the final it was Ben Stewart who got to the lead early before Deadly Dave Sera took charge moving to the lead before half-race distance. From here Sera took a commanding lead to win his 13th Australian National championship, whilst Stewart regained the final step on the podium (3rd) after dropping back to 5th mid-race.

Senior National

Senior National featured Arrow’s always-fast Matthew Waters who along with Brock Plumb led the field through majority of the weekend’s races. However when a last lap crash in the final occurred between the leading pair, it subsequently opened the door for a new National champion in Jason Newman. Newman showed great pace against the rest of the field, crossing the line well clear of Jay Schrodter who was also driving an Australian-made Arrow chassis .

Junior National Light
Arrow was heavily featured in the Junior National Light category, with Bryce Fullwood proving to be in a class of his own for majority of the weekend. After being tipped to win last years National Championships, Fullwood once again showed his exceptional speed in his Arrow chassis during the final, leaving fellow Arrow pilots Dylan Hollis, Jayden Ojeda & Tyler Morrison to fight for 2nd place. In the biggest victory of Fullwood’s short career, he crossed the line 4 seconds clear of the rest of the field, stamping his mark as one of Australia’s best in the junior ranks.

Clubman Heavy
Fresh from his debut in the Clubman Heavy class and also a Victorian State Championship, J&A/KTEQ Rentals driver Deadly Dave Sera once again portrayed his tremendous driving talent throughout the 2013 Australian National Championships. Sera poled the Clubman Heavy class before winning both heat races and the pre-final against an all-star field. In the final, Sera was pushed to his limits in a heated race against newly crowned leopard heavy champion Kris Walton. In typical fashion, Deadly Dave stayed cool to regain the lead in an effort that marked his first Clubman Heavy National Championship AND the 14th Australian Championship of his karting career. 2012 Clubman Heavy Arrow Champion, J&A/Shamick driver Matt Wall finished 4th after a race long battle with fellow Arrow/J&A pilot Leigh Nicolaou (5th).
