CRG Claim Australia's 'Jewel In The Crown'

press release 6 April 2013

CRG Australia driver Jake Coleman claimed the 2013 Australian Championship in the Clubman Light category at the Monarto Karting Complex on March 31.

The New South Wales teenager steered his CRG Black Diamond 28/30 to victory in arguably the toughest category in Australian karting to highlight the continued strength of the chassis in the Clubman classes.

“For a long-time, Clubman Light has considered the toughest category to win at the nationals and when you succeed it is proof that you have defeated the best kart racers and teams from all across the country.  It’s the one we all want to win,” said CRG Australia boss Chris Dell.

“When you look at the names on the Clubman Light Honour Roll, it has got some great names in Australian karting on there and now Jake’s name sits right up there amongst the best of them.

“Everyone at CRG has been working extremely hard over the past few years to win the Clubman Light title again, and it is great that one of our long-term drivers who has come through the junior ranks with CRG was able to achieve our goals.”

For Coleman, the win was an emotional one, made more so after the fact that he crossed the line first in Junior Clubman last year only to have the win taken away from him in the Stewards room.

“It’s a very good feeling, especially from last year when I had it taken away from me.  I now feel a real sense of accomplishment in the sport,” said Coleman.

“None of this would be possible without the dedication and hard work of everyone in the CRG team, there has been a huge amount of preparation gone in to prepare for the nationals.  To be able to reward everyone for their hard work is just fantastic.

“It was only my second Clubman Light race, so to have come away from the weekend with the win is just huge.
“This is the fourth time I’ve raced at a Nationals, the feeling of winning it really hasn’t sunk in yet.  To look at the honour roll of who’s previously won Clubman Light and now realise that my name will be alongside them is an amazing feeling.”

The CRG Australia team’s next major event will be Round Two of the 2013 Castrol EDGE CIK Stars of Karting Series to be contested at South Australia’s Bolivar Raceway on April 27/28.
