Victorian Daniel Rochford has confirmed a switch to veteran Australian outfit, KART 1 Racing. The current Rotax Light rankings leader will step aboard the outfit that was recently taken full control of by Fergus Symes.

“I’m excited to be racing under the KART1 Racing banner for the remainder of the year and into the future, it’s a very experienced and professional team to be involved with so I’m looking forward to some great results with them, they are very committed to helping all of their customers to get the best out of a racing weekend and have a lot of exciting prospects for the future,” said Rochford.

Daniel is no stranger to success with numerous race and event victories to his name, aswell as an entry to the 2012 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Portugal last November, while the event didn’t go completely to plan; Rochford now has his sights firmly on the goal of more success this season.

“The start of the 2013 year so far has gone according to plan having finished on the podium in the last three Pro Tour events that accumulate points to this year’s rankings season, so keeping that consistency up is definitely the aim to qualify for the world finals late this year held in New Orleans,” Rochford added.

With the World Finals in sight, there is a still a long way to go as Daniel faces a further four Pro Tour rounds aswell as the Rotax Nationals to be held in his home state at Puckapunyal, and he is well aware of the competition that surrounds him.

“My goal for the rest of the year is to remain on top of the Rotax rankings, it would be great to do that with a couple of wins, however the competiveness of the Rotax Light field has stepped up alot this year, there are alot more drivers to keep an eye out for that are putting alot of commitment to win aswell including reigning Junior Max National Champion Thomas Randle and Andrew Carey who is right behind me in the points heading into Newcastle, I’ll need to be at 110% for the rest of the year,” Rochford concluded.

Round 4 of the 2013 Rotax Pro Tour takes place at Mt. Sugarloaf Raceway, Newcastle, NSW from 12-14 April.
