kartin' stuff from the past coupla days...

  • Victorian karter Jordie Lindstrom had the ride of his life - twice - at Symmons Plains in Tasmania yesterday. The karting champ won a competition to experience both a V8 Supercar and an Australian Superbike. Jordie rode alongside Mark Winterbottom in the FPR Falcon, then as pillion with Jamie Stauffer on the Team Honda Racing bike. More on speedcafe HERE.

  • The funeral for Col 'Pop' Grother will be held at the Bundaberg Bible Chapel, 110 McCarthy Street, Bundaberg, this Monday April 8 at 1.30pm. An obituary has been posted on the AKA site HERE.

  • The Warrnambool Kart club is planning to extend their Lake Gilear track. One of the proposals is a banked curve that undulates through the gully. The next round of the Victorian Country Series will be held at the circuit on April 14.

  • The Adidas brand is set to hit Australian racetracks in 2013. Jack Perkins informed us that Perkins Motorsport will be a retail partner in Australia and New Zealand for the iconic brand. In addition to V8 Supercar racers James Moffat and Michael Caruso, Australia’s most successful kart racer David Sera will now wear Adidas boots, gloves and underwear. “Having worn a variety of racegear over my years karting, the Adidas gear is by far the most comfortable" said Sera. "And if you want to stand out in the crowd, the adidas Karting Boots look the part!.”

  • The position of Executive Secretary of the CIK-FIA has changed hands. Olivier Stéveny has handed over his responsibilities in Karting to Kay Oberheide. Of German nationality, Oberheide is a former kart racer and is still very much active in historic karting. After one year working in the CIK, Stéveny will now be responsible for the management of the Touring Car and Truck Commissions.

  • The CIK-FIA has issued an alert from the World Anti-Doping Agency of a black market substance being sold to and used by some athletes. More on the CIK-FIA website HERE.
