Arrow Conquer TaG Light & Heavy At CIK

press release 27 February 2013

Round 1 of the 2013 CIK Championship at Ipswich, Queensland, saw TaG Light & Heavy competitors contesting the first ever Queensland State Championship for their subsequent classes.

Arrow’s X2 chassis ran strong all weekend in both TaG classes & KF Junior with William Hawkes also having a brilliant debut in the class despite an unfortunate mechanical failure that saw Will DNF the Pre-Final after starting in 2nd Place.

Will Hawkes showed great pace all weekend aboard the X2-CIK kart, proving to be a top competitor for the remaining rounds of the 2013 CIK series.

TaG Light

Arrow/Pacific Kartsport Drivers Ben Stewart & Adam Mercer flew the flag high and strong throughout the weekend in Tag Light with Ben winning 2 heats on Saturday. Ben also won the Pre-final Sunday morning with Adam a very close 2nd during the whole race distance. From here it was an Arrow/Pacific Kartsport 1-2 from the get-go in the final with Ben 1st and Adam 2nd, however Adam soon took over the lead as Ben dropped off significantly back to 6th place. Adam was simply unstoppable from this point onwards as he went on to claim victory by over 3 seconds with Ben finding late-race pace to crawl back to 5th place. Not only was this the first ever QLD State Championship for TaG Light, but also Adam Mercer’s Maiden Blue Plate & State Championship Victory. Well Done Adam!

TaG Heavy

Brendan Nelson was in amazing form all weekend for Arrow starting with 2 heat victories on Saturday. Brendan came back from a Pre-Final loss on Sunday morning (only to veterans William Yarwood & Jason Hrynuik) to jump into 1st during the early laps of the all-important final race.

From here Brendan continued to gap the entire field by a significant margin before a threatening late-race charge by CRG’s Jason Hrynuik. This however did not stop the current Leopard Heavy National Champion crossing the line in 1st place with an impressive victory (and another Blue Plate to add) in TaG Heavy’s First QLD State Championship!
