New AKA Track For Sydney Karters

AKA karters in and around Sydney now have a new track to race on with news the Wollongong Kart Racing Club will be running their first race meeting at the Picton circuit on Sunday, March 10.

"WKRC has been working with the owners to have the facility ready for our first AKA race meeting, and the track passed its final inspection this week" the club informed KartSportNews.

"We are now ready to go racing."

The circuit is located 30 minutes from Wollongong and is 30 minutes south of Campbelltown, just 5 minutes off the Hume Highway on the Picton Rd (see map below).

The undulating layout, which has a mix of fast and slow corners, is 640m long and has a capacity of 28 karts.

The pit area is fully grassed with modern well-presented amenities and an air-conditioned canteen that gives a great view of the track. There is also a grassed spectator area close to the canteen.

"The circuit has undergone modifications from its hire kart layout to conform to AKA regulations" the club stated.

"Improvements have been made to the circuit kerbing, installation of several new gravel traps as well as modifications to tyre barriers.

"The grid areas have been upgraded to accommodate revised in and out grids to allow easy access and flow of the race meeting."
