Kosmic Racing Australia Confirms 2013 Drivers

press release 24 January 2013

Kosmic Racing Australia is excited about the year ahead with confirmation of its driver line up for the CIK Stars of Karting Series and other major events.

In the CIK Stars of Karting Series, the team will have seven drivers contesting the Pro categories and several others in the supporting TaG and TaG Restricted categories.

Youngsters Tom Chitty and Matthew Foyle will fly the flag for the team in the Pro Junior (KFJ) category while Matthew Waters, Dimitri Agathos, Lachlan Gibbons, Joshua Smith and Billy Foyle will line-up in the Pro Light (KF) category.

Chitty, 13, is returning for his second year in Australia’s elite junior category after competing in three rounds last year. After training hard in the off season, both on and off the track, Chitty has got his sights set high in 2013.

Cairns’ Foyle brothers, Matthew and Billy, will make their debut in the championship with the team at the opening round in Ipswich on February 23/34 in the Pro Junior and Pro Light categories respectively.  Both drivers are keen to impress during their ‘Rookie’ year and keen to learn throughout the year.

Waters, the most experienced driver in the team, will once again return to the Pro Light (KF) ranks.  After competing at the 2012 KF1 World Championships in Macau last October, Waters comes into 2013 with big expectations of success in the category.

Three youngsters who have made the transition from the junior ranks – Agathos, Gibbons and Smith, will join the 23 year-old Sydneysider on the Pro Light grid.  Smith gained valuable experience late last year by competing in the CIK-FIA Asia Pacific KF3 Championships, where he finished a creditable seventh.  He hopes to benefit from this experience throughout the year while making the step into the senior ranks.

Matthew Boylan will also continue to fly the flag for the Kosmic Racing Australia team in the TaG Heavy class at each round of the series.  He will compete aboard his Kosmic Mercury X30 and plans on making a big impact after his second placing finish in the Leopard Series last year.

The team also has plans to link with the Kosmic Racing Department for the European Championships later in the year.

In other news the team also welcomes Adam Macrow’s AMR Kartsport operation to the team as engine tuner for the year ahead.

Gerald Chait will also join the team in the TaG Restricted category aboard the very popular Kosmic TS30/X30 package.  Youngster Kasey Szymcow will also make is debut under the Kosmic Racing Australia umbrella aboard the Kosmic Rocky 900 in the coming weeks.

The team’s first race meeting will be the very popular Brian Farley Memorial at Eastern Creek next weekend (February 2/3).
