Big Cash for KZ2 In WA

A significant east-coast contingent of KZ2 drivers is expected at the Eastern Goldfields (Kalgoorlie) race meeting on November 6 & 7.

"There's $8000 cash for KZ and the winner will take home $4000" Michael Patrizi informed KartSportNews. There's already a dozen or so KZ karters in Perth expected to make the trip, and a similar number of interstaters could join the locals.

The event runs 2 weeks after the Horsepower Heaven final in Geelong, and, with special deals on freight from Melbourne to Kalgoorlie, Patrizi is hopeful a large number of racers from HH will box-up their gear and head west.

"All of the KZ racing will be done by Saturday night" he said. "An east-coast driver could get a flight Thursday night and practice Friday. All the racing for KZ will be done on Saturday with a 30-lap final under lights, then they can fly home Sunday."

Second place is worth $2000, $1000 for third, $500 for fourth and $500 for pole. Uniquely, pole position for the final will be via a 1-lap, new-tyre shootout.

Patrizi said that he thought it would be a good idea for a group of east-coast drivers to pool their resources to head west, then if one of them won the event, the prize money could cover the group's costs.

Further details will be announced closer to the date.
