Australian Setting Up European Race Team

Europe-based Tasmanian Ben George has left the Austrian based Team-V and is in the process of setting up his own European kart racing team!

ben goergePlans are well underway for the Aussie to have his own race team up and running for 2009 running customer drivers from various parts of the world. The team will compete in the European Rotax Championship plus selected Rotax Max Challenge national events throughout Europe.

As yet, the brand of kart the team will campaign has not been announced. "I'm currently negotiating with a chassis manufacturer" George informed KartSportNews. "I already have many drivers asking, but I won't be making a decision on drivers or chassis partner quite yet."

For the last 3 years, Ben has been a factory driver & mechanic for the very successful, and very professional, Team V (Intrepid Force Rotax), including helping with the development of Intrepid's Rotax karts.

In 2004, Ben, a former Australian National Champion, made the trip to Austria to work and race for the ROTAX dealer Kartshop Hochhauser. In his first season he won the 2004 Austrian ROTAX National Championship.

At the beginning of 2005 Ben was again set to work for Kartshop Hochhauser, but received a call asking him to help develop a new team - Team V. He has been with them until recently, and achieved another two Austrian Championship titles plus the 2006 DD2 ROTAX World Championship under the Team V umbrella.

Ben says his move overseas in 2004 was difficult (he bought a one way plane ticket and hoped for some luck to come his way!) and he'd now like to provide other Australian drivers with the opportunity to realise their own dreams of racing and succeeding in Europe as he did himself.

"I believe that drivers will feel more at ease when looking into competing in Europe knowing that there is an experienced fellow Aussie with a European based team, ready to assist".
