Bray Claims ROK Cup USA Victory

Globetrotting Kiwi international Daniel Bray has claimed another US victory - this time at this year's ROK Cup USA national final in Florida on Sunday.
Driving for Mexico's VCI/GP team the 29-year-old from Auckland won the ROK Shifter Senior class Final from top local drivers Jimmy Cabrera, Nicholas Hargraves and SKUSA Pro Tour Series Indianapolis round winner AJ Meyers.

"I qualified third, won the first two heats and was leading the third when my rear bumper came off and I was classified 11th. That meant I had to start the Pre-Final from P6 but I drove through to win that then won the Final," Bray said from the track at Orlando.
"The weather was crazy. Close to 100 percent humidity with thunderstorms all around us but no rain at the track. It was at least 35 degrees C. I've never sweated so much in my life."
The event was the third in three weeks in three different countries for Bray, who contested the CIK-FIA World KZ championship meeting in Sweden a fortnight ago and the final round of the 2016 Giltrap Group New Zealand Rotax Max Challenge back home in Hamilton last weekend.
ROK is a brand of kart engine designed and built by Italian engine specialist Vortex. There are 27 national ROK Cup series for classes running ROK engines around the world (including in New Zealand) and an annual ROK Cup International final which this year is being held in Italy between Octoebr 19 and 22.
