Vic State Championship Final Round

The Victorian Karting Championship final round was held at the Eastern Lions Kart Club over the weekend with Victorian State Champions being decided!

Glenn Riddell took home a dominant win in TAG 125 Masters in the Silhoutte Pulse Tuning backed entry. Riddell led the championship coming into the final round after having a long championship battle with Phil Smith. Riddell was able to take maximum points from the final round taking the clean sweep as Smith was left to battle for second with Steven Riddell with Smith prevailing.

Junior National Light was one of races of the weekend with Josh Smith, Cooper Webster and Jay Hanson all sharing wins. In what was an enthralling battle with all three drivers leading the final at some point, Hanson looked as though he was going to take the win! In a drag to the line Smith was able to take the win over Hanson by 0.001! Smith was able to take out the Victorian Championship with Webster second and Beau Harris rounding out the three.

KA3 Senior Heavy was the Leigh Nicolaou show again with a dominating performance over four rounds. Nicolaou led the championship coming into the final round and took maximum points away from the weekend taking home another blue plate. Glenn Riddell was able to challenge early in the 18 lap final but fell away to finish second over Daniel Webster in third. Webster was able to clinch second in the championship over Riddell in third.

Cadet 9 was another race to have a grand stand finish with Dominic Attard, Fraser Carr, Toby Dvorak, Harry Arnett and Ayrton Filippi in five kart battle for the win. All drivers had chances of leading the race with Carr and Attard battling it out. Attard was able to hold in a great battle over Carr in second and Dvorak. Carr took him the championship over Dvorak and Ruby Gibson rounding out the three.

TaG 125 Light was thrown wide open in its 18 lap final with pole sitter and undefeated Morgan Feast and Troy Alger coming together leaving Leigh Nicolaou and Thomas McCulloch leading. Feast drove a hell of race to get back to fourth with three to go in a five way battle between Nicolaou, Matt Beninca, Toby Pope, Feast and Alger. Beninca was able to make a move late in the race to take the win over Nicolauo and Pope in third. Feast took home his first Victorian championship over Nicolau and Zac Soutar rounding out the podium.

KA4 Junior Heavy went down to wire with two kart battle of Ben D'Alia and Jack Martin. Martin, coming as the chaser, won two of three heats giving himself a chance to steal the championship in the final! Martin took the round win but D'alia was able to take home the championship win with Jackson Rice rounding out the podium in third position.

TaG 125 Heavy was the Arron Hindle show once again with Hindle sealing back to back Victorian Championships. Hindle had challenges from Justin Carless, Max Carter and Scott King. Hindle took home a comfortable win over Carless in second. Aaron Jackson came through to third spot after Carter and King came together with a few laps to go. Hindle took the championship from King and Carless in third.

KA3 Junior was another to be decided at the final round with Dylan Hollis, who came into the round in second, taking the championship with a clean sweep performance! Hollis was challenged late in the final by Angelo Mouzouris, Jordyn Sinni and Christian Pancione. Hollis was able to hold on over Sinni and Pancione. Hollis took the championship over Ben Bargwanna and Pancione third.

KA3 Senior Light was another exciting final with Jordan Nicolaou, Cody Donald, Spencer Ackermann, James Sera and Jack Bell all in the battle for the lead. Ackermann got a break with a few laps to go to take the win with Nicoulau coming home in second with a recovering Sera for third. Sera was able to take back to back championships with Nicolaou taking second over Ackermann.

Cadet 12 was the best championship finish of the weekend with three drivers having a chance to win in Fletcher Harris, Kobi Williams and Kai Allen. Wharton led away from Allen and Harris with Williams starting out of eighth up to fourth in a few laps. A red flag narrowed the field up with the top four all in the hunt until Allen and Wharton came together ruling Allen out. In a battle to the line Harris took the round and the championship by one point over Kobi Williams. Jobe Stewart finished third with Kai Allen rounding out the championship top three.
