Manning Valley August Races

from Greg Moores 21 August 2016

The Manning Valley Kart Club held a club meeting three weeks out from the final round of the State Championships.

The meeting again featured 25 lap finals under lights on Saturday night. The physically demanding nature of the ‘traditional’ style of kart track saw a number of drivers wisely pulling out of the final race due to fatigue.

Kody Garland responded to challenges, both on the track and off track, over the last month to assert his ability and local experience by dominating both KA3 Light and TAG 125 Light.

Behind Kody in KA3, the racing was tight with Mathew Waters showing his class by staying with the fast Light group throughout the final.

In TAG 125, Todd Stocks and Royce Sutherland also demonstrating consistent speed and track experience but looking for speed to be able to say with with Garland.  Hudson Heath has problems in the heats but recovered to stay with Stocks and Sutherland right through the final.

Oscar Priest was another one to step up in the run to the State finals with a very fast and consistent race pace in Junior KA3 and KA4 with Thomas Sargent keeping him honest in both classes.

TAG Restricted continued its regular display of close racing at the fast-flowing track but the long final stretched them out with Matthew Kenneth leading all the way.

The Manning Valley Kart Club is looking for good numbers to race at the parkland circuit at Wingham for the NSW Championship Final.  Entries close on Thursday. Prizes are open to all competitors at the presentation on Sunday afternoon 11 September.
