  8 June 2016

kart 1 racing logoLong-time Sydney karting retail outlet, Kart 1 Racing, has ceased trading.

The organisation informed KartSportNews that almost the entire company’s assets have been sold, and effective immediately Kart 1 Racing Pty Ltd will no longer trade in the market, apart from selling off some remaining Top Kart stock.

“The decision to exit the Karting Industry has not been an easy one to make, as Kart 1 is a healthy and sustainable business, and I enjoy and love what I do at the moment" Kart 1's Fergus Symes said.

"Why the change? I couldn’t see myself running this type of business for the rest of my life, and given that my life goals have changed significantly, it’s important for me to make decisions now, that will put me in a better position for where I want to be in the future, before it becomes too late.”

“It really has been a fantastic journey for me being involved in karting, from when I started racing in 1997, to getting involved within the Karting Industry in 2010.

"I have worked with some fantastic people along the way, and I would like to especially thank Colin Hurst and John De Pasquale, from Hurst Race Engines for all their support and assistance. Previous business partners, Nat & Tim Craig, and previous employees Darren King, Michael Horn and James Abela who all put a fantastic effort in along the way, which truly made Kart 1 so successful.

"Lastly, and most importantly, I would like to thank all my customers and suppliers for their support over the years, it’s truly been a blast!”

Detail about the future of the Redspeed brand in Australia will be formally announced shortly.
