Frost Wins Kingston Cup

Launceston Kart Club member Tate Frost has continued his run of good form by winning the KA4 Junior Light class at the Kingston Cup meeting held at the Oakleigh Kart Club in suburban Melbourne last weekend.

The Year 8 student at St Patricks College has been racing extensively on the mainland this year competing in the Australian Kart Championship series and also at the Oakleigh club meeting with the assistance from the professional James Sera Kart Centre.

After claiming the 2015 Tasmanian Junior Clubman State Title, Frost has been at the pointy end of the fields on the mainland with front row starts at the last two rounds of the national series. Last weekend he was able to capture the win in a stella field of Victoria's best junior drivers.

Frost's next mainland meeting will be round 4 of the Australian kart Championship to be held at the Ipswich Kart Club in Queensland in early July. Frost sits 8th in the series and is hoping to continue his good form in Queensland.

Another Launceston Kart Club member, Mitchell Kerrison, is also competing at the national level in the Rotax Pro Tour.

Kerrison is driving for Troy Hunt's Top Gun team in the Junior Max class. Kerrison has had a number of top ten finishes is the premier junior class that has had up to 40 drivers on the grid.

Kerrison sits 20th on the Rotax Pro Tour points table with the winner receiving an invitation to compete at the World Finals, this year being held in Portugal.

Kerrison's next round is also at the Ipswich Kart Club on the 3-5 June.

The Launceston Kart Club will be holding their next race meeting on Sunday the 19th June. The feature class on the day being the 20th running of the McDonald' s Young Guns with Both Frost and Kerrison expected to be at the pointy end of the field in the state's most prestige s event for juniors.
