Early End To Armstrong's Euro Round 2 Final

press release 19 May 2016

There was an early end to Kiwi kart ace Marcus Armstrong's weekend at the second round of the 2016 CIK-FIA European KZ Karting Championships in Spain on Sunday.

The 15-year-old works Tony Kart driver from Christchurch finished 15th in the Pre-Final but crashed out of the Final on the first lap.

It was a frustrating finish to a weekend which had started so well, Armstrong topping the KZ class time sheets in the first practice session on Friday then being eighth quickest out of the field of 20 in the qualifying practice session on Saturday morning.

A fifth place in the second qualifying heat race helped earn him 11th spot on the grid for the Pre-Final in which he finished 15th. But that was as good as it got with the young Kiwi having to wait now until the end of July for the third and final round of the 2016 European champs at Genk in Belgium.
