PROKART SERIES STARS LOOKING TO CONSOLIDATE AT TOKOROA THIS WEEKEND

Class leaders Simeon Woolsey, Jared MacKenzie and Garry Cullum will again be looking for maximum points at the penultimate round of this year's ProKart series at Tokoroa this weekend.

The ProKart Series is the headline act at the KartSport Tokoroa club's annual Glenn Tremain Senior Memorial meeting at Holsters Trade Zone Raceway with class leaders Woolsey (KZ2), MacKenzie (KZ2 Masters) and Cullum (KZ2 Restricted) all on 183 points, less than 10 more than their closest rivals after the first two rounds.

"Being quick is obviously part of it," says ProKart Series promotor - and keen Masters class competitor - Steve Brown. "But you also have to be consistent. And that's what Simeon, Jared and Garry have been so far.  One slip up, though, one bad heat or wrong call on tyres if the weather suddenly changes, and you can lose a points advantage real quick."

In the all-in ProKart races, there is always plenty of action through the packed field, with Aaron Wilson and Logan Brown from Auckland and Rhys Tinney from Hamilton expected to again push Woolsey hard in KZ2. There will also be interest in how well teenager Taylor Harte from Tauranga goes on his debut in a 6-speed gearbox-equipped, 125cc KZ2 class kart.

Having only recently qualified for the Masters (40-and-over) class Jared MacKenzie's relative youth has stood him in good stead so far this season but as fellow Aucklanders Steve Brown and Mark Lane, and Graeme Lambert from Mangakino, have proved at the first two 2016 ProKart Series meetings, there is plenty of life - not to mention speed - left  in those 50+.

In the KZ2 Restricted class Garry Cullum has also had some stiff competition, in particular from Shaun Curran.

Glenn Tremain Senior was a founding and life member as well as Patron of the KartSport Tokoroa club and this weekend's meeting marks his passing three years ago.

There will be action at the track on both days with ProKart Series qualifying and heats on Saturday and Pre Finals and Finals on Sunday. The club is also running its own Glenn Tremain Senior Memorial meeting support classes for Cadet ROK, Vortex Mini ROK, Rotax Light, Heavy and Junior and DD2/Open with practice on Saturday and races on Sunday.
