  • Ride on board with Tyrone Merwood as his brakes fail at Warwick's round of the Queensland State Championship last weekend. Merwood's Mychron5 recorded a speed of 102 km/h just prior to flying off the road. "A metal component in front of the master cylinder broke off (subjected to constant force by pressing the brake pedal), disconnecting the brake pedal from the master cylinder" Tyrone wrote. "We have used the brakes for 25 race meetings for over about 1 year. Now on we will be checking and replacing these parts to avoid this issue from ever happening again. Check, maintain and replace your brake components people." Thankfully, he was not injured.

Over 270 karts competed in last year's event on the demanding Cockburn international raceway. "This year, due to popular demand, we have reverted back to the unique anti-clockwise or 'down the hill' direction where the KZ2 and Open class karts are expected to top over 140kmh" the club advised KartSportNews. "We also welcome 17 times Australian champion “Deadly” Dave Sera who will be gunning for the $2000 prize money in KA3 Pro which we expect will have a capacity field of 40 karts that will include WA’s own multiple national and World IAME X30 champion Kip Foster." Twelve classes will compete, including WA’s super professional KZ2 FMA Motorsport series. Organisers promise the trophies will be huge and places are paid back to 5th, with over $12,000 worth of cash and prizes up for grabs. Entries are now open on CMS. Supp Regs are available on the TKC web site HERE.
