Sidebottom Switches to PCR

  21 April 2016

Reigning KA2 Australian Champion and current KA1 Australian Championship leader Reece Sidebottom has switched teams to Scuderia PCR Australia.

The 15-year-old will compete with the team from next month’s third round of the Australian Kart Championship at Monarto under the Reevu Motorsport umbrella.

A team statement said he has his sights set on international opportunities with the iconic Italian brand.

“Tommy Gallo (Scuderia PCR Australia boss) is someone who focuses on giving his drivers the best opportunity at success in a very tight knit team" Sidebottom said. "I’m really looking forward to working with him and the PCR team.

“The opportunity to drive with Reevu Motorsport came out of the blue just before the opening round in Dubbo and one that I’m very thankful that came along.

“After winning last year’s Championship my future in karting was very much up in the air. I had started an apprenticeship and we didn’t really have the funds to move into seniors.

"At the time the Reevu helmet, that incorporates the rear vision system, had just been approved for use in karting and it has been great to be an ambassador for the brand.

Sidebottom will race KA1 with PCR for the rest of the Australian Championship. He will soon begin testing KZ2 with a view to race the gearbox category in 2017.

"He is a true talent and one that I’m very excited to have in the Scuderia PCR Australia team,” said team boss Tommy Gallo.

“This really is one of the most exciting times of my racing life, and I cannot thank those who have supported me along the way enough, especially A1 Engines, City Finance, Reevu Motorsport, Penrite Oil, Galvaniize Insurance, Vortex Engines, SCT Logistics along with Mum and Dad,” Sidebottom added.
