AKRA Cancels Easter Nationals

  14 March 2016

Just a week out from the event, the Australian Kart Racers Alliance has pulled the pin on its Easter Nationals.

Originally set for Orange, then moved to Eastern Creek, AKRA's founder Troy Boldy posted on Facebook that the event was cancelled due to "pressures from sources outside of AKRA's control" - but did not reveal what they were.

"Unfortunately, due to pressures from sources outside of AKRA’s control the decision has been made to cancel this year’s Yamaha Easter Nationals in the interest of creating a better racing program for karters over a long term period.

"There has been a lot of talk about the need for this organisation to break through in to the national Karting scene and as a result efforts to have it ready at short notice have lead to us finding 'kinks in our armour' so to speak.

"It has been decided that we will take more time to put together a more comprehensive set of rules and regulations to ensure all insurances and permits can be put in place. This includes sanctioning by NSW sports and recreation to allow us to run a junior program as well.

"Please stay tuned as this is only the beginning. We will keep you all updated regularly throughout the year as we work on this extremely difficult task. We are always happy to accept input from karters as this is about you."
