The Tiger Kart Club in WA hosted the 1st state round of the Western Cup series over the 13th and 14th of February at the Wanneroo track and it was great to finally see the racing year underway for 2016.
Huge entries in all classes made for some red hot action with lots of overtaking and excellent racing throughout the field that put on a real show for the spectators enjoying the action.

This year sees a major change to the tyres for most classes and this has shuffled the pecking order with drivers and pit crew needing to get the karts set up on the new rubber a priority for those wanting to win.
The track condition also changed as all the classes now put rubber into the surface particularly the kids classes where in the past they would take the rubber back off the racing line. This means having to accommodate chassis changes during the day to keep the kart performing as the track rubbers in.
A nasty accident in the Cadets class put a dampener on the meeting with 4 drivers requiring medical assistance and a halt to proceedings for over an hour as the injured drivers were assessed and taken for medical attention. We wish all the drivers a speedy recovery and hope to see them all back racing again soon.

Big thanks to all the volunteers who managed the meeting and provided the back ground support needed to run a meeting of this size and a special thanks to Gabby and her canteen crew who worked tirelessly all weekend to provide us all with great food and service.
Congratulations to these lucky winners on the day and the club for once again holding a great meeting for us all to enjoy our great sport of karting.
